Story
Introduction
Having taken the long way round via a career in graphic design and production management I am now knee-deep in the world of online marketing and SEO. I used to obsess over CMYK and CSS, now I worry about SERPs and CTRs.

Great chippy and kebab shop. Generous portions and great tasting chips, very clean and great quality with friendly staff. It's always well-staffed as well so very little hanging about.

This is a new Pizza Express recently opened in a converted church on Hermitage Terrace in Morningside. The food was excellent as expected, Pizza Express deservedly has a reputation for being a high quality pizza and Italian chain and this franchise is no different. The venue is very nice, the high ceiling and ample lighting in the daytime made for a very specious and naturally lit room to enjoy lunch. The staff were very friendly and the kids were made to feel welcome.

Nonna's is a real gem. Hannover Street's loss is most definitely Morningside's gain. The food is unfussy but full of classic Italian flavour and the staff are quite simply second to none, making you feel at home and relaxed whilst delivering stellar service. It's relatively small inside and booking ahead is most definitely necessary as it's always popular. The specials menu is mind boggling, packed with the day's fresh catches and you'll struggle to keep up as the dishes are reeled off. Be ready for it and latch on to whatever sounds good! Serving the dishes the way you like them seems to be the order of the day here. For example, order something with chilies in it and they'll ask you how hot or mild you'd prefer it. Wonderful, no nonsense, relaxed but special Italian dinning at it's best.

We visited Jamie's Italian shortly after it opened on George St and we weren't overly impressed. When we arrived there was no one manning the front door so we had to hang around until someone eventually came, at which point despite us booking we were told we'd have to wait for a table to become free. Once seated, conversation was impossible due to the nightclub music blasted through the restaurant, which seemed out of place considering the majority of the clientele that night seemed to be older than my wife and I's ages combined. Recipes from Jamie Oliver's books feature frequently in our home dinning, especially the Italian recipes, and are typically unfussy and full of flavour. The food we had wasn't bad by a long shot - streets ahead of what typically passes for Italian in other chain restaurants but presentation seemed to have been given priority over flavour which was a shame. Admittedly we had high expectations for Jamie's Italian and I can appreciate some of the issues with our reservation may have been teething troubles but it simply failed to wow us on first visit.
