Seriously, this is huge! While #SyntaxNet is a great addition to NLP technology, I think it works best when used with other tools and algorithms, making them even better and more reliable. As a social analyst, I'm excited to think of all its uses - think social listening and sentiment analysis tools: http://brnrd.me/google-syntaxnet-sentiment-analysis/

I'm sure you've heard by now that Topsy has sadly been shut down by Apple. In case you used to rely on it, or if you're just looking for new free (or inexpensive) social listening tools, here's a great list of Topsy replacements on +Link Humans: http://linkhumans.com/blog/topsy-replacements

Fortunately a lot of these tools are running discounts for ex-Topsy users, so this is the perfect time to invest in one of these if you fancy. Feel free to share this with anyone who might need it!
As you may have heard, the beloved Topsy has been shut down by Apple, Topsy’s new owner: https://twitter.com/topsy/status/676919759435399168 Now, I won't g

I wanted to do a quick search for the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 during its launch event on Tuesday, just out of curiosity. Just minutes later and Microsoft launched the Surface Book. Amazing devices, but tricky when it comes to social listening: it's all good when searching for "surface book", but do a search for the "surface" and you'll get mentions of the Surface Pro and the Surface Book.

Anyway, if you've ever had to do social listening for two products with really similar names, or where one is just a variant of the other, here's how you can do it without pulling in any unnecessary mentions, and without pulling out your hair (guaranteed).

PS. This is yet another example why you need to have a social listening tool with advanced operators, +Brandwatch being a prime example.
Doing social listening for two products with very similar names (or where one is just a variant of the other) can be tricky. Here's how you can solve it.

Developers who are rushing to update their apps for the Apple Watch (which isn't available for purchase yet), yet with no support for the iPhone 6(+) which came out almost half a year ago...?

Here's a handy list of social/digital tools that make my life easier, including +Mention , +BuzzSumo , +SumAll , +Visually and +Buffer .
There are so many digital tools out there, each with its own expertise: analytics, content marketing, publishing, visualisation etc. Although I use several of them, I keep my essential tools to a minimum. Why? Because it’s easy to suffer from “tools overload”: tools are supposed to make your work easier, but when misused you can

Thanks again to everyone who came to the +Social Media London event last week! Here's the full recap of what I talked about that night - for anyone who couldn’t make it, for anyone who was there but would like a recap, or if you’re just interested to know what I had to get off my chest. ‪#‎smlondon‬
Here are four - just four - things about social analytics that we need to talk about today, from a social analyst's point of view.

If you have a social listening tool, make sure it supports proximity operators. It'll change the way you create Boolean queries - forever.
PS. If you're a +Brandwatch  user, you're safe.

Say it with me: "Twitter reach is not the same as Twitter impressions".
Twitter reach and Twitter impressions: both metrics refer to your exposure, and the different between the two may be subtle...until you report on them.
