+Ross NW Watergardens landscape schedule can be a bear to manage! Here is how we do it:
When you sign an agreement with us, and pay a deposit, you get a start date for your project. Some times of the year that may be 4 weeks away, other times it may be 14 weeks. Either way, you have a start date and are in the schedule. What does that mean? The start date is a target. No new projects will go in front of you, your deposit ensures that. However, it is common for projects to start a week or more past the start date on the ...

Thanks Chris!

Another 5 star review for our landscape services!

This one via +Thumbtack

"I had a very small backyard that I had ignored for 10 years, and then needed to get organized in order to sell my home. Ben was able to work with my small budget and limited time frame, remove all of the accumulated growth including several trees, and design a simple and appealing backyard that went well with the general design of the house. In addition, his workers cleaned up the leaves in my front yard and trimmed back growth from public property that bordered my house even though that was not a part of the original contract. I was able to sell my house the first day.

If I were to do this again, I would request a weed barrier and removal of the tree stumps (instead of burial and regrading of the yard), even though that would have probably put the cost of the project outside of my budget, because the years of neglect had allowed a lot of weeds to find a home in my yard. That was outside of the scope of what I asked for, though, and Ben and his crew certainly gave me everything I asked for and more."

I run into this all the time

People either think that native plants are a miracle cure to all their landscape woes... or think they are ugly weeds.

#landscapedesign
We hear a lot about the benefits of native plants, from being easier to grow to helping birds and pollinators. Many designers are giving us stunning private and public works that show the power and resiliency of native plant communities, all with an unmatched beauty. It’s only natural to want to bring some of this home, but first it’s important to know there’s also a lot of misinformation out there. Ready to make your garden be all it can be?

Thanks for the great 5 start review of +Ross NW Watergardens !
reviewed:
Ross NW Watergardens completely redid our front and back yards, from design through completion. The design was great, and the execution was quick and painless. They listened carefully to my needs and wants, and gave me a plan that met them while remaining in my budget. All I did was look out my window and watch the magic happen. What a pleasure!

Are we the best fit for you and your landscape project?

I hope so, but we might not be. Here are some reasons why:
No, our site was not hacked by some other Portland landscaper. We just realize that we should not try to be "all things to all people". And that's ok. Your landscaper is out there.  Here are a couple reasons you might NOT want to hire us for your landscape project:

We only do irrigation and water feature repairs for existing clients...

But that doesn't mean we can't be helpful. Here are some great Portland-area companies that CAN help:
Ross NW Watergardens used to do a lot of irrigation system and water feature repairs. Back then we had one landscape crew, no maintenance crews, and didn't do any design work. We now have multiple crews and do quite a few designs. We don't want to add technicians, so... We are no longer taking on repairs for systems or features we did not install ourselves. But don't worry, we have some great referrals for you:

I am helping Pinnacle Vista Services, my Uncle Kurt's company, get online. He has been designing and installing landscape pavers since 2000 but is just now online!

Everyone wants a deal. I get it. So you have three bids, from three landscape companies. Why is one bid higher than the others? Should you just go with the low bid? There is often a good reason one bid is higher. And sometimes that means you would be wise to pay it. But there are projects where the low bidder probably makes sense. I will explain it all here:

What plants should I get? It can be overwhelming to head to the nursery without knowing. Here are 6 of my current favorite plants to get you started:
Spring time is planting time in the Pacific Northwest.  You have your favorite shovel, some good soil to amend with, and a hankering for some hard work. But there is just one problem: What should you plant? I have written about plants many times, but today I am just going to tell you about plants I love.  And just so I don't get carried away, let's limit it to 6.

Landscape Designer at Ross NW Watergardens
Introduction
As teenager my father would wake me at 4am to get ready for work. You have to get up early to beat the Phoenix summer heat. I would install irrigation timers in massive subdivisions all day and fall asleep in the truck on the way home.  Amazingly, that start in the family business didn't send me running away screaming.

Now we are in Portland, Oregon and I choose to get up early to get the crews out the door. Time to make a landscape great! We design great gardens, craft them out of stone, dirt, and plants, and then keep them looking fantastic for years.

I am the Landscape Designer at Ross NW Watergardens a Portland area landscape design/build firm. It's pretty exciting stuff.

Check out what we do here, and who we are and what we believe in at our Portland Landscape Blog. You will find landscaping design advice, project profiles, and get a little glimpse into our world.

If you are in the Portland are I would love to meet you in person. Lets walk your property and discuss what it could be. I would love to see your renovated garden in our portfolio. Schedule a free landscape consultation today and get your landscape on the road to greatness! You can find me at Ross NW Watergardens at 7607 SE 104th Ave, Portland, Oregon 97266. Reach us at (503)761-3683.

Julie helped us engineer improvements on a client's retaining wall. She was extremely responsive, reasonably priced, and took a flexible approach to the project. I highly recommend her services and Ross NW Watergardens will use her for engineering walls in the future.

I called Greg on a Monday morning about locating 9 sprinkler valves for me. By 3pm they were located! Great service from a very friendly company. I highly recommend!

As the landscape designer and manager at Ross NW Watergardens, I have been ordering plant material from Chehalem Mountain for years now. They are always pleasant to deal with, work hard to find what I need, and have reasonable prices. Could they be a little faster with quotes? Yes, but as long as give them a little lead time it's not an issue.

We order LED low voltage lights from Landscape Lighting World for many of our projects. The quality and price are excellent. The styling is conservative, which means we can easily use them on many projects. Highly recommended!

Excellent place to get bark dust and blended soils. They also have a very nice 1/4"- gravel mix that we at Ross NW Watergardens use a lot. They are one our primary suppliers on the east side of town.

This is where landscape pro's (like myself) get seed, everything you need for a great lawn, and good advice. It's also the place to get seed for lawn alternatives from Hobbs & Hopkins. Highly recommend!
