For the past couple years we have hosted a "craft beer party" on the Friday that kicks off the 4th of July weekend. I supply the grill food (burgers, dogs, brats, ribs, wings, etc.) and major sides, you provide the beer.

The rules are fairly simple and are tweaked annually but the idea is fairly simple: Bring a 6-pack (or equivalent...or more...per person) of a craft beer you either enjoy or want to try to the party. The beer cannot (blatantly) be part of the Bud, Miller, Coors family and can be an import assuming it is not Heineken, Guinness, etc. The idea is to expose people to new breweries, types and flavors -- to reach beyond the comfort zone. For those new to the concept or are exploring their first ever non-American lager we print cheatsheets and taste guides covering most of the dominant tastes, colors, and types of ale.

2 bottles must go into the "taster's cooler" and the other 4 go in the "unrestricted cooler." (We have a fridge too for folks who may have brought something in a league of its own that needs to stay "protected" -- or for when the coolers are overflowing.)

At any point in time, you may take a sample from the taster's cooler (in a plastic cup) and either finish the bottle if you like it or put the bottle back and move on.

The past couple years have been a huge success with the party lasting well into the night. Sadly, I get too busy cooking and drinking to take much more than pre- and post- party photos, but I'd like to know other ways people have found to celebrate their love affair with craft beer with their friends.

I may have just become an un-Fan of Republic Wireless.

With their new new GSM phones/plans launch just around the corner I am finally getting caught up reading all the info about Clear Choice (aka. Republic 3.0) plans: https://community.republicwireless.com/docs/DOC-2912#jive_content_id_Republic_Wireless_Clear_Choice_Plans_FAQs

I am significantly bummed that refunds are not an option but given I was a 1GB user on the 2.0 plan, the price point is basically the same after refund for me. The bigger issue is the inability to buy a bucket of data when I need it. I found "buckets" to be the perfect solution when traveling infrequently but for days at a time, or when I get pulled away from office wifi for work (i.e. remote sites, construction sites, etc.) for longer than anticipated (but again, infrequent) trips. Clear Choice feels very T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon to me. They need to come up with a "Republic Wireless 2.5"--more phones + buckets + GSM.

Republic Wireless is KILLING me with no new NFC-enabled phone right now. My gen1 MotoX has been restarting randomly, reactivating slowly with each restart, and optimizing apps way too frequently over the past 30 days. I'm living on borrowed time with about 9hrs of battery if all I do is text. And the other day the phone wouldn't shutdown and burned 80% of the battery in 35 minutes in my pocket. Bonded calling may be the next big thing but I need a phone pronto and I am not going to buy another RW phone unless it has NFC for Android Pay. (Grrrrr....)

it would be nice if +Republic Wireless could at least confirm some of the specs of the next flagship phone now that the motoX gen 2 is sold out. how about throwing me a bone and confirming whether or not NFC will be included and the storage options of the next top-of-the-line phone?

Dear Android App Developers...

Please build an app that will allow me to keep WORK EMAIL (as well as all my personal email) accounts on my phone but ONLY ALERT me of new work email between 8a-5p on the phone. Let personal email come through at any hour of the day. I'd do it myself but I am too damn busy checking work email in the evening and on weekends to develop an app.

Thanks.
