Pianist wins competition after breaking a wrist
Recently, we read an article about Sam Kinsey, a college junior, who broke his wrist while playing basketball. This was a huge challenge for Kinsey because he was a pianist. He was not allowed to touch a piano with his injured hand for a period of two month...

Playing an instrument: a brain workout!
"When you listen to music, multiple areas of your brain become engaged and active. But when you actually  play an instrument, that activity becomes more like a full-body brain workout." This is a really great video showing how playing an instrument and stud...

I have been studying clarinet at Bellevue School of Music for several years. I am a mature age student and working mother with a love of music. My teacher, Robert Wilson, understands that music is something I do for enjoyment and that I have limited practice time. He tailors the lessons to make sure I have fun while at the same time improving my technique. I have also taken advantage of the school's flexible rescheduling policy. I have always found Robert Wilson to be pleasant, patient, helpful and an excellent teacher. I highly recommend this music school.

In my nine years of experience, the Bellevue School of Music has been an incredible place to learn. When I first started taking clarinet lessons as a fourth grader, I could barely read a staff, but as a graduating high-school senior I had placed at the state-level Solo and Ensemble competition a total of four times. The depth of study available and personal attention provided by the teachers are both truly exceptional. As a junior, I attended an international chamber music festival in Luxembourg for two weeks and performed on equal terms with undergraduate and graduate college students from around the world. The best part is that the instruction is just as effective for beginners as it is for already skilled players. No matter what your playing ability, if you want to learn an instrument, you can at the Bellevue School of Music.

They never answer the phone when you call, they take forever and a day to return calls, and if you need to miss a lesson because you are ill they charge you for it anyway. There are many quality private instructors to choose from in the Seattle area that will work with you if you need to reschedule a lesson due to illness, death in the family, etc., but not this place.
Response from the owner - 4 years ago
Bellevue School of Music provides unlimited rescheduling of lessons, for any reason, with 48 hours prior notice. It is common for schools to not allow any rescheduling: one local school offers no rescheduling, another restricts students to a maximum of 2 reschedules per full year--only for illness. We offer flexibility for families with a busy lifestyle.

My son took lessons from Bellevue School of Music for several years. The qualifications of the teachers at BSM is very high. They are all accomplished and experienced professionals. Students are coached to a high level of success and more than a few win the WMEA All State music competitions, a highly competitive endeavor. I would highly recommend taking woodwind lessons from Robert Wilson for serious high school students who want to be leaders in their high school band programs.

I really enjoyed my first year of saxophone lessons for a couple reasons. First the lessons were very informative and Mr.Wilson helped me with my band music and other solo pieces that I was struggling with. He have me music that was both entertaining and a little challenging. Mr. Wilson also helped me with many of my auditions, and therefore I got into Jazz Band, and got lead alto in cadet band. The lessons are an amazing experience for me.
