Bella Coola Heli Skiing

Crews from freeride websites @Doglotion & @biglines were here to help us do some filming! Despite experiencing our most challengeing conditions in years, the crew still had a great time. Here's a fun blog post from Mikey at Biglines http://ow.ly/vMNv9

Bella Coola Heli Skiing

Several weeks ago we had a visit from journalists Dawn and Carrie who have written many articles for outlets such as the Globe & Mail. They had a blast, especially since the snow was DEEP! They left trenches in the snow with their snowboards! They made a fun video of their stay, check it out here (I love the looking-back-up-the-hill shots with the glaring sun and powder): Bella Coola Heli Sports - Powder days

We asked a new #heliskiing guest: "How did you hear about us?" Guest: "A drunk guy at the bar in Jackson Hole told me you rock"!" Ha! Nice!

Snow report: More FIRST DESCENTS!!! Guests were heliskiing runs never skied before, this time in our Klina Klini zone in our Pantheon tenure (this base is for a group of just 8 people who get their own lodge, helicopters, guide and 1.1 million acres). Did you know we have so much unexplored terrain that not only are there runs without names, there's whole valleys yet to be named!! AMAZING!
If you were in the photo how would you ski that slope? Those rollers look awesome, so as a knuckledragger, I think I'd bomb it and launch off them (if the guide was ok with that :p)!!
Photo from yesterday: guide Jan N and Island Alpine Guides (www.islandalpineguides.com).

EPIC!! I used to heliski at some of the big commercial operation but got sick of large groups and people slowing me down. My buddy told me about the small groups at Bella Coola and that the runs are way steeper. I liked how on arrival we heliskied our way from the Bella Coola airport to the lodge. We had a down day, but it was pretty cool that we got to go fishing, something very different. The Swede is definitely a character. We loved his wine collection. I'm bring 3 buddies next year so we make our own group of 4

Loved everything about it. The heli rides were thrilling. Each ski run seemed better than the previous one. The guides were making sure we got a full day of outstanding skiing over different terrain. I enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sun with my new friends for apres, telling tall tales about the day. It was relaxing, it was fun, it was an adventure!
