#DidYouKnow That there are over 20,000 species of bees in the world and over 4,000 in North America alone? They are found everywhere except Antarctica, in every kind of climate. Honey bees aren't actually native to North America, but were introduced by European settlers. All bees are suffering population losses, not just honey bees. As all bees contribute to pollination, it is important to have a broader perspective on the challenges facing bee populations as a whole. Maybe consider creating a native bee habitat in your yard, to help combat the losses they are facing. #AllInTheFamily #BeeAware #BeeTheChange

We'd like to congratulate @BeeLab for capturing this awesome photo of three species of bees pollinating the same flower!

Check out this excellent guide to Native Bees from the USDA:

#DidYouKnow that sugar and honey are not equal when it comes to bees or people? Honey is a bee's perfect food- it contains a combination of glucose and fructose which provides both short and long term energy. Bees mix enzymes into the nectar they collect from flowers and reduce the moisture content so it lasts indefinitely. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup are used as a replacement feed for bees when beekeepers collect honey, and they have a different PH, which effects honey bee digestion. What bees make out of sugar can legally be called honey, that "honey" certainly did not come from a flower, and is inferior in both taste and nutritional content to the real honey made by bees. Moral of the story? Support your local beekeeper! Ask about their practice, and only buy honey that comes from flowers. #SupportLocal #GetTheGoodHoney #FlowersOverFactories #HoneyBeeHealth #HoneyBeeHealthy #BeeHealthy
