Can a gift given 2,000 years ago still matter today? Yes! Following the teachings of Jesus Christ can help us become more like Him. This helps us experience lasting peace and joy—this Christmas season, and always. #sharethegift www.mormon.org/christmas

I had a lot of really good suggestions for this topic, one in particular stood out to what I feel ‘the last days’ would be like, for ‘if ye are prepared – ye shall not fear’…:

“After thinking for a bit, I was reminded of some camping trips we had in the mountains watching the sun go down where you knew that soon the darkness would envelope you…and in that stealth the change comes… (like the light of the campfire)… So… for the imagery I pictured the opposite…the darkness already there, but with the rays of sunshine coming behind me… as in a sunrise…the feeling of renewal, (with the rays on your face) that made me turn toward it with hope, a new beginning, impelling me, pulling me to forge on toward those rays of light.” – Carol

I know not by what methods rare,
But this I know, God answers prayer.
I know that He has given His Word,
Which tells me prayer is always heard,
And will be answered, soon or late.
And so I pray and calmly wait.
I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the way I thought;
But leave my prayers with Him alone,
Whose will is wiser than my own,
Assured that He will grant my quest,
Or send some answer far more blest.
-Eliza M. Hickok

Day 92 ‪#‎sketchaday‬ ‪#‎drawingchallenge‬ - Person From Memory...
Our hearts record memories of those we love. My friends shared a piece of their heart with me when I asked them who their person from memory was, this is what they shared with me - wonderful memories:
“My Aunt Carol who had such a big impact on my life. She taught me so many valuable lessons, not the least of which that I was a person of great worth. She loved unconditionally, served in quiet ways, and was always there to uplift and encourage others. It’s been almost a year since she passed away and she is dearly missed.” – Darla

“My father who was the greatest man I have ever known. He was such an amazing person. Not a day goes by without thinking of him. It’s been almost five years since he passed and I miss him terribly but I always think of all the good memories and it somehow helps with the pain”. – Lisa

“My mother! 15 years ago tomorrow heaven gained an amazing angel! She was loving and kind and accepting of others. She opened our home to all of our teenage friends and made all who came feel like family. She also could see your potential and encouraged you to reach that potential. She was naturally an introvert but learned to push outside her comfort zone too make others feel appreciated and loved!” – Tori

“My grandparents on my moms side. So so many wonderful memories of them throughout my life. My grandfather passed away 11 years ago next month and my grandmother will be 4 years next month already. So many times I’m making the kids ice cream sundaes and crushing up peanuts and I’ll tell them about how I used to have it just like that at grandma and grandpa Hacketts house. Or chocolate milk and cinnamon sugar toast for breakfast. It’s always the little things that bring an image to mind…” – Katie

“There is nothing so precious to parents as their children. Thirty eight years ago our 3rd baby was born. My second oldest at the time at the age of 4 called him Scotty Heaven (alias Evan)…and we did call him that so often..He was so different because of his blonde hair when the first two children were so dark. His skin, like his fathers, blue green eyes, and a thumb sucker…and very…rarely ever cried. Two years later we lost him due to an accident and it was pretty rough for us all. How fitting it was that we had inscribed Scotty Heaven on his headstone..When we visit the grave side, it makes me smile, knowing from where he came….to where he now is….It gives us great hope, living by faith and knowledge that we will again be with him…This is not sad…because we know where he is…and he waits….for us.” – Carol

“A man who was like a father to me. He was always willing to lend me a hand. He also took me on many service trips. He was there for me. He passed away in May. He was truly an amazing person. At his funeral the church it was in had to extend into the gym. It was packed. He was well loved and is dearly missed”. – Shelbi

“My Dad..I lost him almost fourteen years ago. Being the only daughter, I was his little girl and he always was on my side against my three brothers. When I became an adult, he grew to be a close friend! I sat with him as he was slipping through the veil…he saw his grandparents and called out to them. It was a precious moment for me!” – Dee

“my Grandfather…the first time he came to pick me up and I didnt cry. All the other times I was afraid of him…until my parents left me at a babysitter so they could attend the temple (I think?) My grandpa had to come pick me up from her house and that must’ve been the first time I realized he was my own people! … my grandpa was my step=grandpa…he married my grandma a year before I was born. How did I know? But ever since that moment he was never my “step” anything…just my best friend. the image I remember is looking out the window and watching him get out of the car and come up to the door to get me from the sitter. love him and miss him still.” – Jocelyn

“My mother, she passed away when I was 13, miss her dearly!!!!” – Deborah

With all those heart-felt memories, I compiled this illustration sketch. We all have angels surrounding us to lead, guide and comfort us each day. Though we may not be able to see them, they’re there ready to help in times of need. One of my favorite quotes says ‘Who better to answer our prayers on behalf of our Heavenly Father, than our closest family and friends.’ – Lance Richardson: ... The Lord said comfortingly, “I am in your midst” (D&C 38:7). “And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours” (D&C 78:18).

When the Savior comes again, He will come in power and glory to claim the earth as His kingdom. His Second Coming will mark the beginning of the Millennium. Day 98 #sketchaday #drawingchallenge - Fiction ...

“I have nothing now but praise for my life. I’m not unhappy. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more…What I dread is the isolation. … There are so many beautiful things in the world which I will have to leave when I die, but I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

Drawing Challenge: Day 93 Playing Dress Up – Pirate Pictures

“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.” – Carl Sagan

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”  ― Albert Einstein

“Fairy Tales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” ~G.K. Chesterton

Introduction
I've been painting and drawing for as long as I could hold a pencil. It's one of my greatest passions in life! I love to draw memories for others, to cherish for a lifetime. My favorite subject to paint, are portrait paintings. The eyes are my absolute favorite to draw, as I feel they are the light that makes a painting shine and come to life!
Bragging rights
I gave a painting to President George W. Bush, in the oval office of the White House, summer of 2005. The painting now resides in the Presidential Library.
