perhaps if I practice on a child size/baby sock then an adult size sock will be less intimidating.  Got my pattern thanks for the reference group  I think I can "wrap" my brain around this pattern :)

So I have this stash of sport yarn. My friend is having a baby and I decided to make a baby blanket with it. I am going to to stripes with each color and I want to put the cream color (In the back) in between to separate each. I am knitting it in garter stitch. I thought it would be fun to add a different stitch to each of the cream color rows. I was thinking a 1x1 rib. Any suggestions?

I made an afghan once that alternated rows of stockinette with rows of garter.  It used a different even amount of rows to make it interesting (e.g. 8 rows garter in color A, 6 rows stockinette in color B, 10 rows garter in color C, 4 rows stockinette in color D and repeat for pat).  This would make it reversible also.

So I am a bit excited! I made this hat for my friend in Chicago. She loved it so much that she want's a scarf and her daughter wants a hat. She wanted to pay me for them... I told her to just buy the yarn!  (getting my knitting fix for free)

Doing "life" things is so much more enjoyable when you have yarn and sticks!

Ha! I thought it would be fun to try this project so I cast on 39 stitches to give it a try with some scrap yarn.... Um yeah, not sure if I am too tired or what but I got so confused. I will try again in the morning lol

Happy to help! And the price is pretty good. I think that's why my little crochet student bought a full bad instead of a half, lol. She is going to have LOTS left over.
