Check out the details like the recessed window nooks, French doors, and original woodwork in this home.
In a charming 1917 Omaha, NE home, interior decorator and blogger Megan Pettipoole helped the Whealy family play up coveted classic details like recessed window nooks, French doors, and original woodwork. Megan wanted to see the personalities of the people who lived there (including mom, dad, and two small boys) reflected in the decor, which it did not accomplish previously. 'It just didn't yet reflect the vibrancy and creativity of its residents...

Check out this decor that is easy to throw around and certainly cute enough for adults to love, too.
Hold on to your toddlers folks, because it's finally here. Target has a kids decor line called PillowFort, and it's very good, stylish, fun, and extremely affordable. It officially launched yesterday, so we thought we'd highlight our favorites and show some of them styled in my house (with a sneak peek into Elliot's nursery). Part of my job with Target is receiving advance pieces of their new collections and playing with them. It's just terrible.

Check out this spectacular flower shop!
Opened in 1999 by Elizabeth Cronin, Asrai Garden is more than a flower shop. Named after an aquatic faerie found in English folklore, Asrai Garden sells fresh flowers and succulent plants, as well as locally designed jewelry, small batch scented candles, and artisanal chocolate. The interior design is a direct...

For a house to feel comfortable, it takes a special blend of love and craft.
For me, getting comfortable doesn't always mean snagging the best spot on the sofa for movie night. It doesn't mean putting on my robe after a long day. True comfort is hard to come by. It's effortless. It's a state of being so at ease and so in tune with your space, you seem to blend into your surroundings. For a house to feel comfortable, it takes a special blend of love and craft.Eleven years ago, painter Joseph Bradley and his wife Rachel, a ...

We were recommended to use Beckenstein Fabric for two curtain sets that we needed for a condo renovation in Midtown in 2014-15. We were impressed by their array of fabrics and the help we got in store was great. That's when things went from 4 star to 1 star. We paid well over $5,000 for the curtains including installation, which we though was a bit steep (We have recently paid about $2000 for similar curtain sets of brilliant quality back in Australia - fitted). But it was an expensive condo remodel, so we thought for that price, the product must have been exemplary so we went ahead. Once the order was placed, the service was awful. When the were finally installed the first time (about 3 months later, and 2 months late), none of the curtains were cut to the right length. The solution from BF was to redo one of the sheers, leave the other one because it was close enough and steam one of the curtains so that it lengthened. That set of block-out and sheer is still well short of what we had ordered and the block-out now has pulls in all of the stitching. It took almost 6 months to have the curtains installed from start to finish. The ultimate finish of curtains is no better than I could have got at Ikea. Now that I am doing some further work on the apartment, our GC has mentioned that the tracks were installed with screws into the ceiling sheetrock - without plugs! One of the tracks (from the block-out that gets opened and closed the most) was almost falling off. Be warned!

I brought in 2 sofa seats for re-stuffing. If it were not for assistance by John, the store manager, I would still be waiting to have calls returned. John followed up and had the sofa seats delivered. Thank you John.

Terrible customer service. i've been trying to reach them for over a year now. e-mails and telephone calls unanswered! Took forever to get the original sofa from my interior designer who used their fabrics. Now 8 years later trying to get fabric on cushions replaced for close to a month. It should be an easy job. Sent someone to their store. Promised to be ready after 3 but still not ready. now 342. now promised next week. i'll believe it when i see it.

Did you ever feel overwhelmed with the work needed in your apartment? You didn't know where to begin your project. You wanted every detail to be perfect and had an image in your head as to what things should look like; however, somehow starting was the most difficult task. I explained this to the folks at Beckenstein's and within an hour was on track to achieving my ultimate "dream home". Thank you. I couldn't have tackled this alone.
