Artist Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz uses unlikely elements to construct his unbelievable and complex photographs of superheroes, or Splash Heroes. However, unlike normal superheroes, his heroes are not wearing ordinary uniforms, but outfits created from splashes of colored milk. Each construc

It’s no secret that Melbourne-based artist Phil Ferguson is fond of food. After all, giant slices of crocheted pizza, cracked eggs, bacon, hot dogs, and much more are strapped onto the top or side of his head. They take the form of decorative hats and costumes that frame the wearer’s face

As we move further into the digital age, designers are looking for new ways to offer products that will make even portable devices obsolete. A new product by a company called Cicret is offering a bracelet that will enable the wearer to project the functions of his/her Smartphone onto their a

If you thought the goofy family photo in your holiday cards was original, then you'd better think again. Nick and Martha Desbiens recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for Fahz, a unique take on the usual 3D-printed decor. Fahz is a 3D-printed vase that features customized si

Dutch artist Art Van Triest plays a dangerous game. He encourages people to break the law, just by fitting a jigsaw puzzle piece together. After tracking down different weapons that are illegal to possess (Kalashnikov, Pistol, Machete), he uses a water cutter to splice them up into traditional

In a sociopolitical environment wherein Western music was banned, music-lovers in 1950s Russia (who were called stilyagi, similar to our modern-day “hipsters”) found an ingenious way to pirate the popular tunes they loved: by printing the music on exposed x-ray film salvaged from hospital

Beautiful/Decay is your daily destination for groundbreaking art & design.
Introduction
Beautiful/Decay began as a small black and white, DIY, photocopied ‘zine in 1996, releasing three issues in its first incarnation. In 2001, it was resurrected as a full color art and design publication featuring some of the most cutting edge and exciting work by artists and designers from all over the world.  Over the years Beautiful/Decay grew a cult following and evolved from a widely distributed magazine to a limited edition book. After releasing 35 printed issues, B/D shifted it’s attention full time to its rapidly growing blog; beautifuldecay.com is now home to the same exciting content that made Beautiful/Decay a widely loved and revered creative bible. As B/D’s 20 year anniversary approaches, its coverage of ground breaking art and design reaches a global audience of millions every month, and is an inspirational resource for artists, art collectors, and creative taste makers from all walks of life.
