This August, we welcome Dr. Lawrence Bell, Ph.D, Executive Director of Arizona Jewish Historical Society who will discuss America and the Holocaust. In 1981, The Arizona Jewish Historical Society was founded in order to preserve the rich heritage of Arizona’s Jewish communities and to educate the public about the Jewish contributions to Arizona and American life. In addition, the society seeks to promote greater awareness of our state’s diverse history through a variety of educational programs. Join us on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Beatitudes Campus Town Plaza Bistro located at 1610 W. Glendale Ave. in Phoenix. Light refreshments will be served. “ There’s nothing more powerful than a story well told. We appreciate our resident authors for sharing their stories with the world. In their writings they also tell the Beatitudes Campus story: a community that believes older people continue to be productive, creative, passionate, funny, angry and active far longer than mainstream America would believe.“

The campus launched this program in honor individuals in our community who have passed away from heat related causes, including its own employee Refugio Medina, who passed away in August 2011 from heat related complications.

Great story about two of our campus residents in the Writers' Group, re-posted from their Roadrunner Extra! newsletter...

Ray rang the doorbell. He had agreed to help produce Roadrunner Extra!, the monthly newsletter at Beatitudes [Campus] that was written by residents. He was calling on Mary Louise, the editor, for their first planning meeting. Since there was no office available, they were meeting in her room.
