The Pocket Square

"The Pocket Square features local distillery Atelier Vie's Euphrosine Gin #9. I wanted to celebrate this delicious gin (infused with savory bay leaf, juniper and other choice botanicals) without masking it. La Quintinye Vermouth Royal blanc rounds it out with its herbaceous qualities and the La Face Cachée de la Pomme Neige Apple Ice wine offers a touch of sweetness. No cocktail, in my opinion, is balanced without acid; so the lemon and lemon bitters bring it all together to make this drink pop. Enjoy!" - Robby Farmer, Bar Manager, Bayona

Pocket Square
1 oz. Euphrozine Gin
1 oz. La Quintinye Royal Vermouth Blanc
1 oz. Neige Apple Ice Wine
.5 oz. Lemon Juice
Several dashes of Lemon Bitters

Shake all ingredients and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Our 200+ year old cottage features multiple dining rooms. We call this one the Bayona Room (for obvious reasons). Every table in the Bayona Room enjoys a beautiful view of a French Quarter still life.

My sister, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, had seen Chef Susan Spicer on a morning talk show and was adamant about visiting her restaurant when we visited New Orleans in 2003. She begged our way into a last minute reservation, telling the maitre d’ about how impressed we were with Chef Susan Spicer. Chef Spicer was kind enough to take a picture with us and insisted on making a special meal for us, which was a delicious rabbit dish. I plan to return when I visit New Orleans in October.

Food quality and ambiance was fantastic. The portion sizes were perfect. The table presence was a disappointment, however. Both servers assigned our table were inattentive. When they did come around, their presence was clumsy and uncomfortable. Overall, our party would not return. Despite the excellent kitchen, there are better dining experiences to be had all about the Quarter.

Wonderful ambiance. Delicious menu. This place was quite a find for us on our recent visit to New Orleans. The locals seemed to want to keep it a secret. I don't blame them!

After reading some negative reviews, my wife and I still decided to give Bayona's a try. Lucky us! Surly waiters? You must be kidding! Harold was every bit the quintessential waiter deftly suggesting we share the smoked, fried quail salad since it was "quite large". My hanger steak rates in the top three pieces of beef this lad has ever eaten - already sliced for me and perfectly charred on the outside and rare in the middle. Ditto my wife's yellow fin tuna. Our escargot appetizers were a delightful surprise being cooked in a novel but delicious manner. House best dessert - the panna cotta flan- well, it lived up to its reputation - tasty yet not so filling. The restaurant is just so charming -perfect blend of comfort and serenity yet lively expectation. The extensive French wine list is great and you don't have to break the bank. Try the $55 Cote du Rhone Chateau de Cosme. Have to find it at home somehow! Thank you, Bayona, see you again soon I hope.

Food was okay. Service was slow. Restaurant charged me $3.00 for each refill I got on my 8 ounce fountain drink without letting me know. Ended up paying as much for my cola as I paid for my entree. Are we back in the 1970s again? It didnt say anything on the menu about this. I don't appreciate being ripped off.

The good news is the food is exceptional. Worthy of their reputation. But unfortunately the staff is leaning on that knowledge. After making a RSVP weeks ago to get a table, I was required to call back to keep my table. Kept on hold 4 times totaling 10 minutes. Table wasn't ready, waiters wanted the food order immediately. Splashing water, wrong drinks, sorry but not a 26 for service. Such a shame, but the owners need to kno
