The Pocket Square

"The Pocket Square features local distillery Atelier Vie's Euphrosine Gin #9. I wanted to celebrate this delicious gin (infused with savory bay leaf, juniper and other choice botanicals) without masking it. La Quintinye Vermouth Royal blanc rounds it out with its herbaceous qualities and the La Face Cachée de la Pomme Neige Apple Ice wine offers a touch of sweetness. No cocktail, in my opinion, is balanced without acid; so the lemon and lemon bitters bring it all together to make this drink pop. Enjoy!" - Robby Farmer, Bar Manager, Bayona

Pocket Square
1 oz. Euphrozine Gin
1 oz. La Quintinye Royal Vermouth Blanc
1 oz. Neige Apple Ice Wine
.5 oz. Lemon Juice
Several dashes of Lemon Bitters

Shake all ingredients and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

+Restaurant Hospitality named Bayona's Smoked Duck Sandwich with Peanut-Cashew Butter and Pepper Jelly as 2015's Best Sandwich: Duck. You are now more validated in making a trip to the French Quarter just for "that Duck PB&J" at Bayona.

Our 200+ year old cottage features multiple dining rooms. We call this one the Bayona Room (for obvious reasons). Every table in the Bayona Room enjoys a beautiful view of a French Quarter still life.

Unlike some of the other reviews, the wait staff was very accommodating, polite and professional. We had a late reservation but popped in early. The host got us a table with no questions asked. The food was great. The only nitpick, along with another reviewer earlier, the duck could have been prepared better. The skin could have been crisper and the flesh more tender. That said, it was still a wonderful meal.

Sweatbread is the house specialty, Very good! Overall the meal was good and service was great, but there were a few cocktails that weren't available (not enough booze I guess). The duck breast could have been rendered a little bit better. The apricot stuffed rabbit leg was amazing. Portion size was spot on. I highly recommend Bayona for an early evening dinner before a night walk in the French Quarter!

Food was really good. One of the managers was terrible and very rude although our waiter was good. The wine was from 2011 but was fermeted as if it was 20 years old and tasted weird.

My sister, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, had seen Chef Susan Spicer on a morning talk show and was adamant about visiting her restaurant when we visited New Orleans in 2003. She begged our way into a last minute reservation, telling the maitre d’ about how impressed we were with Chef Susan Spicer. Chef Spicer was kind enough to take a picture with us and insisted on making a special meal for us, which was a delicious rabbit dish. I plan to return when I visit New Orleans in October.

We ate at Bayona with our friends from out of town last night. Our experience was poor...at best. The service was poor. There were several waiters but they seemed distracted. The food was also poor. Two of us had roasted chicken which was visually unappealing, under cooked, and cold. My friend ordered the pork cop medium which also was under cooked and dry. Our bill was almost $250. I think I would have had a much better experience at the local cafe in the Marigny.

My wife was served a fish that they called pompano that was not eatable. It did not look like any pompano that other restaurants in New Orleans sever. It was tick with black skin and was thicker than I have ever seen. To make matters worse it was very over cooked and served with a side of kale that was badly over salted. My sweetbreads were prepared in the classic matter and were very tasty.

Wonderful ambiance. Delicious menu. This place was quite a find for us on our recent visit to New Orleans. The locals seemed to want to keep it a secret. I don't blame them!
