Showed up and pool was closed for the whole stay with young children, that is why we chose this hotel. Room was dirty with dust on tables and tv, wash cloths stuffed in drawers by bed. No free breakfast.

Great location right next to the Del Monte Shopping Center! Easy to catch a movie at the theater, do some shopping and have a bite to eat at one of the restaurants by the mall. You can always drive a few minutes down to Fisherman's Wharf or dine upstairs at the Crazy Horse Restaurant right in the hotel. Very nice staff and accommodations! It's a great deal compared to the other hotels in Monterey and close to everything. We found so many things to do in Monterey we can really use some more time during our next visit. Also, the front desk had 2 for 1 tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Highly recommend!

May 2010 Stay 6 Days Beds very comfortable: Clean Rooms: Excelent Salad bar & Food Friendly Staff Good size rooms Need a desk... Good internet This is a diamond in the rough... a buried treasure waiting to be found. The staff was most gracious. All have been with this hotel for some time and it shows. They work together like a fine Swiss watch...never missing a single stroke. When one needs help the others seem to step up to the plate to assist. One employee that stands out in particular is Belinda ... this gal really works a room and makes one feel like they never left home. It was like being at "Cheers"...where everyone knows your name! She is definitely an asset and one of a kind! The food is better than most hotels… if not superb! The salad bar is one of the best …always fresh …always clean … with a large assortment to cater even to the fussy. I only ate out one night because the food at the hotel was so good and the prices were reasonable. I had flank steaks cooked to perfection as well as seafood dishes and a salad bar that was awesome. The owner an elderly gentleman is a hands on owner.... with the customer’s interest at heart. He works yet never micro manages and always seems to know exactly what to do to add the finishing touches to what I consider..... The best stay I have ever experienced at such a reasonable price. Would I recommend this hotel … of course and without a second thought! I can't say enough good things about this hotel... even the hot water is regulated so precisely that one could take a shower comfortably and never burn oneself. The only complaint if you can call it that is the toilets are loud when flushed ...but they are the high pressure type and I never heard anyone complain of a plugged unit. Considering the traveling I do and the number of hotels I have stayed as I work on the road teaching.... this is the 1st hotel that has made such an impression that I actually took time to write this review. YOU Won’t BE Disappointed! James from CT.

I walked in to the lobby on Friday night at 7pm and asked for an inexpensive room. I had just driven into town from SFO on my way to LA and had no reservations. Tired and just needing a bed, my only goal was to find a room somewhere for less than $150. The ladies at the desk were great, they gave me a a spacious room in building 3 for $99. Could I have gotten the room for $89 or even $79? Probably, but the AT&T ProAm was going on that weekend (I didn't know) and wasn't in the mood for squabbling, I was happy with the offer. While the hotel itself is older and certainly not "updated" my circa 1970's room was great. Pink cinderblock walls and teal furnishings were kitschy but I had a couch, coffee table, work table, flat screen tv and large bathroom. The bed was actually the most comfortable one I have slept in and the room was very clean! I ordered room service from the hotel restaurant and the food was hot and quite good. Overall, for someone traveling alone or with another person who would rather spend their money on something besides the room they will spend 6 hours sleeping in, this is a great deal. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

My wife and I took our two small children to the area from San Diego for a wedding in Carmel. We looked at a lot of other hotels in this price range but settled on this one for the location. While it is not a plush resort, we felt like it was a great value and relatively close to all that Monterey and Carmel By The Sea have to offer. The other hotels in the area were generally more expensive and did not appear to be more spectacular in any way. The staff was extremely friendly and the location was perfect. The room was nice and comfortable for all for of us. The 32" flat screen TV was a nice touch and everything in the room was newer and clean. Other things that we appreciated were the pool, hot tub, free DSL and the salad bar at the restaurant in the hotel There is a gas station and convenience store nearby which was handy and the Del Monte Center mall is a block away with a movie theater, Starbucks and plenty of stores and services. Bottom line is this is not a Hyatt or a Hilton, but we did not expect much luxury for the price, so we felt it was a great value for the area and we would definitely stay there again. Some of the criticism of the Bay Park Hotel cracks me up. If you want the Hilton, next time, cough up another couple of hundred bills and stay there.
