#Weissenhofsiedlung‬ ‪in #Stuttgart, Germany, 1927. Le #Corbusier & Mies van der #Rohe. Photo © Daimler AG // Le Corbusier, as one of the most important architects of the 20th century, has provided significant contributions to modern architecture through his buildings and theoretical treatises. The international dimension of his work and lasting effect form the grounds for initiatives to inscribe his entire work in the #UNESCO World Heritage List. Under direction of the French UNESCO Commission and the French Ministry of Culture, an international working group began its task in September 2004. This group is also joined by Stuttgart, the State Capital, and by the Historic Monument Authority of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The #German #architect Walter #Gropius was blessed with a progressive mindset, but he had also found himself in a set of circumstances, combined with a bit of luck, which helped him conduct the innovative program for the Bauhaus #school. To Walter Gropius, the sworn #Modernist, ornamentation was a form of untruthfulness: “We want to create the purely organic building, boldly emanating its inner laws, free of untruths or ornamentation“. This principle has brought Bauhaus significant attention and unique identity, and so did its pro-industrial attitude (advocated by Gropius himself), clearly supportive of mass-production, for the sake of better realization, financial advancement and the unification of all arts. From the beginning to its end, Gropius was an eminent figure in the Bauhaus story – the founder, creator of the ideology, the first #director, and finally, the architect of its #iconic building in #Dessau.

Piet #Mondrian #Animation: #Design and #Influence of #Dutch #Painter.

He was a contributor to the #DeStijl art #movement and group, which was founded by Theo van Doesburg. He evolved a non-representational form which he termed neoplasticism. This consisted of white ground, upon which he painted a grid of vertical and horizontal black lines and the three primary colors.

The #paintings of Piet Mondrian are derived from a considered reduction; Mondrian's early work was done in an impressionist style and superfluous elements were progressively discarded over decades. The work's fame partly resides in Mondrian being one of the first to arrive at a conclusion which pared painting to it's minimal constituents, namely flatly painted primary colors together with black & white, with spatial illusion completely eliminated.
