The Mark of Zorro. The Monarch Theater. Crime Alley. It's where my life started. Bruce Wayne had died that day. The future I would have had. The life I would have lived. Gone. I was eight years old and today was the day. The day I got the chance to pick the movie we would go to see. I chose "The Mark of Zorro." He was my hero, at the time. A vigilante, but a hero. Who fought for justice. Walking out of the Monarch Theater along the alley known as Crime Alley with my parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, a lowlife criminal named Joe Chill came out, pointing a gun at my my father and mother. He asked for my father's wallet and then my mother's pearl necklace. He shot them and took both, leaving me to stare hopelessly at their dead bodies, their blood filling the alley. I would never forget. The bastard shot them straight through the heads. I swore I would never again let it happen to anyone ever again.

I traveled throughout the globe, searching for teachers to train me to become the symbol I wanted to be. I trained in Chemistry, Mathematics, Forensics, Escape Artistry, Physics, and multiple forms of Martial Arts. After about seven years away, I returned to my home, Gotham, a changed man. I was so different. So grown up and experienced. Even after my parent's death, there was one man who cared for me. He was a father figure for me, since the death of my parents, and took care of me during those dark days. His name was Alfred Pennyworth. He was my only family at the time.  Once I saw him again, I told him of my travels and my goal of becoming a symbol. Something to show the people of Gotham that men like Carmine Falcone didn't own Gotham.

One day I though I would test myself. I headed into the most corrupted part of Gotham. Once there, I saw a little girl in pain. I decided to help her, but in return he stabbed me in the leg. In self-defense, I pushed her. That girl's name was Holly Robinson, the friend of the soon-to-be Catwoman. Selina saw her friend in pain and holding her leg and decided to attack me. A fight broke apart and soon after, the GCPD arrived. At the time, seeing how idiotic the GCPD was, one of the officers shot at me. Lying on the ground unconscious, they threw me into the back of their car. I soon woke up, strangling one of the officers but not killing, I was able to make the vehicle crash and escape. I took the officers out of the vehicle, saving them..

I had everything but a symbol. The symbol I sought to become. As a man, I was flesh and blood. I could be destroyed, I could be ignored. But as a symbol, I could be incorruptible, I could be everlasting. What should it be? I was bleeding out from my blood shot wound but nevertheless, I approached the statue of my father and asked him. He gave no answer. No, my answer came in another form. A bat crashed through my window and landed on his head. I then realized what I must become. Something scary, something intimidating. A bat.

Once I had the symbol, I stumbled upon a cave deep underneath the manor. Several decades before, it had been used as a stronghold by my ancestors. The cave was filled with bats, whom had come back once the owls used to drive them out were all gone. Ever since, it has been known as the Batcave. I may have no powers, but using my body and knowledge, along with my gadgets, I am a force to be reckoned with. I've seen a lot over the pass few years of training and learning. I've made many villains, but I've met many friends, even had a son and a family. No matter what happens, I am Vengeance. I am the Night. I am Batman!

Gotham City
July 2nd, 2014

Batman dropped to the ground below him, water splashing as his tough, black tactical boots hit the murky liquid. It was, of course, to be expected that such a disgraceful and, as Alfred Pennyworth would say, truly insufficient, water would run in the sewer system that lie beneath the famed Gotham City. Though Batman had gotten used to it.

This wasn't the first time he had ventured down below. Often his ventures against Killer Croc would have led him her, though Croc was almost always overwhelmed by the stunning intellect of The Caped Crusader. This time, it would be a whole new world of danger.

Brother Eye, an artificial intelligence created by the Batman to assist in his crime fighting endeavors had gone absolutely rogue and fled down below to grow and evolve. As much as he somewhat hated to admit it, he required assistance. League assistance.

Superman and Wonder Woman had come to Gotham City as soon as they could, knowing very well the extreme threat a rogue Brother Eye could present. And hence, the Dark Knight had waited. He had stood in the putrid sewers of Gotham's sewers, scowling despite being moderately appreciative of the arrival of his lover and best friend.

I've been here since 2013 and I'm legitimately struggling for reasons to stay.
