Basketball Queensland is proud to announce the U18's South state team head coaches for 2019! Luke Cann for the Men's and Jackie Lear for the Women's.
Luke Cann - I am looking forward to working with another group of talented Queensland athletes. It’s always an honour to represent my state and I enjoy the whole process and experience of a campaign. We will play hard, hustle and get the most out of our talent while enjoying the challenge. Luke will be returning as an U18 State Team Coach for a third time, having coached the 2017/18 and 2016/17 seasons. Luke has also coached at the 2018 ADC Camp, 2018 Logan Thunder QBL Men’s Head Coach (QBL Coach of the Year), 2017 Logan Thunder QBL Women’s Head Coach and was the 2016/17 Brisbane Bullets Technical Apprentice Coach.
Jackie Lear - I am so excited to be given this opportunity to work with such talented athletes and a team of quality coaches. I am looking forward to empowering the girls to be the best they can possibly be, while encouraging them to achieve their goals. Entering the program as individuals, our goal as a coaching staff will be to build a strong team culture and relationships so that when we leave for Nationals, we are not only a strong competitive force, but have a family mentality that can take on any challenge thrown our way. I have been involved in the State Program for three years now; two years with the Under 18 QLD Women as Development and Assistant Coach, and last year with the 16 Women also as Assistant. I am fortunate to have won a silver medal and am hungry for another!
