I tried out profvis by +RStudio (https://goo.gl/wXKT6D) today. If you are writing your own R code and want to make it more performant, just try profiling your code with this package and be amazed by where R actually spends its time! Another great tool by +RStudio! And it will be integrated in the IDE as well! #rstats #programming #performance #tw #fb #li
Overview. Profvis is a tool for helping you to understand how R spends its time. It provides a interactive graphical interface for visualizing data from Rprof , R's built-in tool for collecting profiling data. Most R users have had times where we've wanted our code to run faster.

We had another great evening at Gent Jazz (http://goo.gl/rhh1Ky) last week Friday! It started off with legends Pat Metheny & Ron Carter (and yes, we got to see the Pikasso guitar!!! :D - http://goo.gl/22US) and ended with the equally legendary John Scofield, Brad Mehldau & Mark Guiliana. In between, Hugh Coltman payed homage to his mother, through the work of Nat King Cole. Great performance! The discovery of the evening for me, however, was De Beren Gieren (http://goo.gl/MCqtQy), with Fulco Ottervanger, Lieven Van Pee and Simon Segers. You should really check them out! #jazz #music #gentjazz #guitar #festival #tw #fb

Had the pleasure of experiencing +Joe Satriani's guitar mastery during one of the Surfing to Shockwave Tour concerts, celebrating 30 years of his music, last Thursday at the Royal Circus in Brussels! Upgraded two laptops to Linux Lite 3.0 this weekend! I must say this looks really impressive compared to the 2.x series (and I was already very happy with those)! See http://goo.gl/Ltqzk9 for a nice review! A big thank you to the +linux lite developers! #linuxlite #linux #xfce #ubuntu #tw #fb

Scientific researcher and amateur artist, photographer & musician.
Introduction
I'm a scientific researcher at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK••CEN) since December 2013. Given the large number of research dissemination initiatives available online nowadays (on which I try to be "present"), the only up-to-date information on my research is available on my blog, and communicated through my G+ profile.
I use the pseudonym Sreigor for my art-related activities, that mainly consist of creating a digital painting from time to time.
My music-related activities consist nowadays mainly of teaching guitar and an occasional guest performance. Have a look at my blog or G+ profile for more information!

We discovered this place because it was one of the Restaurant Week winners participating in the January 2015 Restaurant Week event. The restaurant is run by a very enthusiastic young couple, and they deliver great food and a great wooden concept! Each and every one of the appetisers was splendid, as was the five-course menu and the matching wines. They work a lot with local products (e.g. Vliermaal Schorpion sparkling wine, Belgian cheese, Wild Weasel whisky (I'm actually not a fan of this one (i.e. the three-year-old)... but they had Bowmore and Talisker, so that's OK), etc.), which we liked a lot. As top-of-the-bill, they poured a fortified Barossa Valley wine, to go with my cheese board, which reminded me of the day I spent there in the summer of 2013... This is definitely one of my favourites!

We had the five course menu. The food was really excellent, as were the wines and the service. The price is in accordance. I can really recommend this restaurant if you like Michelin-star-quality fine dining.
