I am shocked Google is testing this. This ad takes up almost all of the page.

they make a lot of money on companies bidding on competitors brand and url, I'm not surprised they think they can add to that
This is just crazy.. another 'holy cow' that they're going back on the word. Hope the market looks for alternatives...
If it's limited to brand name searches, then it shouldn't really be an issue, it kinda even makes sense.
It makes sense until it comes to being a CPC model. Google is free to set their own rate.
True, but they are a business, and what better way to make money. Unless they can be toppled from their monopolising position, I can't see things changing
The market won't look for alternatives. We simply accept it as the new reality. I wonder though if banner ads will show on mobile searches as well?
