Hello wonderful pet owners!

As summer is coming to a close and schools about to start we wanted to remind ya'll of a
few things to start preparing for coming into fall weather.

Flea and Tick season starts in late September early October and runs until first frost, So if you dont already have your pet on a preventative now is a good time to get into your vet and get some. One that we recommend that has been great is Bravecto, it lasts for 3 months and has had the best results I've seen in a long time. I personally use this and only have to do it twice a year since we live in the city. If your in a more rural area you may want to keep them on it April through November.

Skunks are also out and about beginning in September, hiding under your porch just waiting for 5am on Sunday (lol, seems to always be at the most inopportune time). So keep an eye out before letting your pet outside in the early morning hours. Moth balls are a one way to keep them away from housing structures. If your pet does get sprayed, don't run for tomato juice! Make a mixture of Dawn dish soap, peroxide and baking soda. The most important thing to remember is the spray is very oily, so the dish soap helps to break that apart and the baking soda peroxide helps with the odor. If you only have dish soap when it happens it's better then nothing, and will most likely work on it's own.

One last bit of information, we will be closing down the shop September 1st - 4th for a shop remodel. So, Have a safe and happy rest of summer and a great Labor day weekend.

Best regards,
Barkers Pet Salon
