"A dog is an omnivore and as such is capable of eating grain-based food as well as meat-based food. The question remains as to which diet is most appropriate for the species. You only need to look at your dog's teeth and analyze their stools to get the right answer. Simply put, a dog is not biologically designed to be fed a grain-based diet. Can a dog survive on a grain-based diet? Yes. In many cases, they can without major issue; however, over time, the grain-fed animal may exhibit problems, such as allergies, digestive issues, and more serious degenerative health conditions. The pet owner will respond by seeking out a more natural diet for dogs and cats. Once they see the dramatic difference that a raw dog food diet makes, they only wish they had found the BARF Diet sooner." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

"There has always been confusion regarding the use of bone in the dog diet formulas. Whether it is ground up or fed whole the value is gained from using it. Bone supplies the body with the exact ratio needed for calcium and phosphorus. It is really important to supply the body these minerals in the right ratio. Inverse the ratio and potential skeletal problems can develop." - Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

"For any machine to work properly, it must be supplied with the manufacturer's recommended fuel, lubricants, and spare parts. Anything less will cause the machine to malfunction. Our dogs' bodies follow the same principle. The evolutionary raw dog food diet is the only diet that will maximize health, longevity, and reproductive capacity. I call it 'putting the right fuel in the tank'." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

"The BARF raw dog food diet program is actually more evolutionary than revolutionary. That is because the BARF Diet has been eaten by dogs and cats for millions of years. As such it is not a radical change for our pets to go back to. The BARF Diet is actually a return to the biologically appropriate method of feeding pets that was only abandoned a mere 70-80 years ago." -Robert Mueller, B.Pharm.

The amount of table scraps that are added to a pet's diet should be strictly limited because the nutritional requirements of dogs and cats are different than for humans. If tables scraps are given to pets, they should never make up more than 5 to 10% of the pet's total daily caloric intake.

Raw Dog Food Diet Tip: The presence of bacteria found in a raw dog food diet is a major contributor to your pet’s health. Raw foods supply the digestive system with healthy bacteria, which the body depends on to help support the normal, healthy functioning of the digestive tract. #dogsnaturaldiet #barfdiet #barfworld #raiseyourpawforraw #realdogseatraw

"The role of enzymes in a raw meat diet for dogs is to aid in the digestion process. Cooked or processed food do not contain these enzymes because most enzymes are destroyed once heat is applied in excess of 118 degrees F. It is this difference that separates the two different feeding philosophies." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

A question we hear quite often is, "Does freezing raw meat dog food destroy all parasites and bacteria?" While freezing does destroy most parasites, it does not kill all bacteria. Luckily dogs are designed by nature to be able to handle the bacteria normally present in raw foods. In fact, they've eaten raw foods for millions of years! #rawdietsfordogs #barfdiet #rawdogfooddiet

"The radical change in feeding habits for dogs and cats occurred during the Great Depression of the 1930’s, when pet owners began to feed their dogs stock feed as a cheaper way to keep their pets alive. This was the beginning of the commercial pet food era." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.
