"I have spent almost 40 years teaching people that feeding a raw food diet is a more appropriate way to feed a dog or cat than feeding it heat processed, kibble dry food..."

Today's topic is something WE ALL need think about. Please don't accept what I recommend or what your vet (or your doctor) tells you to do without undertaking some additional investigation on your own. Whether or not to vaccinate is a topic that pertains not only to our pets but to our children ...

All proteins can be ranked for quality based on the amount of their essential amino acids.

http://ow.ly/Q05Xd
When shopping for pet food, people usually look for the amount of protein listed on the bag. For comparative shopping, this can be useful information, but it ignores a very basic and important fact about protein. Suppose I told you the score of the ball game between the Yankees and the Red Sox ...

The amount of table scraps that are added to a pet's diet should be strictly limited because the nutritional requirements of dogs and cats are different than for humans. If tables scraps are given to pets, they should never make up more than 5 to 10% of the pet's total daily caloric intake.

"A dog is an omnivore and as such is capable of eating grain-based food as well as meat-based food. The question remains as to which diet is most appropriate for the species. You only need to look at your dog's teeth and analyze their stools to get the right answer. Simply put, a dog is not biologically designed to be fed a grain-based diet. Can a dog survive on a grain-based diet? Yes. In many cases, they can without major issue; however, over time, the grain-fed animal may exhibit problems, such as allergies, digestive issues, and more serious degenerative health conditions. The pet owner will respond by seeking out a more natural diet for dogs and cats. Once they see the dramatic difference that a raw dog food diet makes, they only wish they had found the BARF Diet sooner." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

"There has always been confusion regarding the use of bone in the dog diet formulas. Whether it is ground up or fed whole the value is gained from using it. Bone supplies the body with the exact ratio needed for calcium and phosphorus. It is really important to supply the body these minerals in the right ratio. Inverse the ratio and potential skeletal problems can develop." - Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.

Raw Dog Food Diet Tip: The presence of bacteria found in a raw dog food diet is a major contributor to your pet’s health. Raw foods supply the digestive system with healthy bacteria, which the body depends on to help support the normal, healthy functioning of the digestive tract. #dogsnaturaldiet #barfdiet #barfworld #raiseyourpawforraw #realdogseatraw

"The role of enzymes in a raw meat diet for dogs is to aid in the digestion process. Cooked or processed food do not contain these enzymes because most enzymes are destroyed once heat is applied in excess of 118 degrees F. It is this difference that separates the two different feeding philosophies." -Robert Mueller, B. Pharm.
