Former Liverpool FC striker and international veteran Dirk Kuyt has enjoyed being a part of the Dutch squad this summer. Fondly remembered on Merseyside for his graft and never say die attitude, Kuyt will never forget the love the fans showed him after six memorable years at Anfield.

And the rest of the talent coming through. What did this kid do all season apart from score twice against the bottom of the league club? Sterling was part of a potent treble act and did his fair share of work, both creating and scoring. Maybe you saw the goal that he scored against city where he humiliated their defence and keeper.

Former Barclays Premier League hitman Paulo Wanchope has enjoyed an unforgettable summer in Brazil as assistant manager of his native Costa Rica. A scorer of spectacular goals during his playing career, Wanchope says his hat-trick grabbing home debut in 2000 for Manchester City was made all the more special because of a certain strike partner on the day, his childhood hero and former World Player of the Year George Weah.

Despite exiting the World Cup in the Group Stage, Liverpool FC playmaker Raheem Sterling showed immense promise with eye catching performances in Brazil. Sterling's former PE teacher Paul Lawrence has since hailed the boy wonder as an inspiration to future youngsters hoping to make it in the modern game.
