It was on this date, Feb. 25, in 1889 that famed Cambridge orientalist, E.G. Browne, first mentions the Bahá'í Faith as part of a series of academic talks and papers he gave that year throughout England. A year later, he was the only Westerner to meet Bahá’u’lláh and leave an account of his experience.

But he also was the translator for "A Traveler's Narrative," a historical account written by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá around 1886 and first published anonymously in Persian in 1890. Browne's translation was first published by Cambridge University Press in 1891. This simple, moving narrative recounts the events in the lives of the Báb and His followers, and illustrates the character of the Bahá'í revelation by quoting passages from Bahá’u’lláh's Writings. It is our Book of the Day today. You can learn more here: http://bit.ly/tnhtravnarbds #Bahai #Bahaullah #TheBab #AbdulBaha #books

It is the only book that Shoghi Effendi penned and "stands unique in the annals of religion". Thursday's Book of the Day, "The Baha'i Proofs," is a book of great value not only to the dedicated student of the Baha'i Faith, but also to anyone interested in religion and its relevance in the development of society. Specifically written with superb scholarship by Mirza Abu'l-Fadl for American Christians, "The Baha'i Proofs" not only explains the timelessness of the Baha'i Faith, but it also addresses many theological questions related to Christianity.
