I had some incredible mashed potatoes here, and I'd like to think I know my mashed potatoes. Just the right amount of butter and cream, just chunky enough with pieces of potato skin. The steak was equally delicious, and they had a pretty rare local beer on tap from Somerville (Aeronaut IPA) that I haven't encountered in other bars in Boston yet (I'm a frequent visitor, not a local). Service was nice and the ambience was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Wonderful friendly fast service, great atmosphere, excellent food and the best kids menu I have ever seen. My 4 year old ate every bite of the kids salmon, and my 6 year old was very happy with his plain buttered pasta.

While they offer a gluten-free menu, they don't understand proper food handling required for somebody with Celiac disease. Pass this place by.

Carol, I am sorry you feel this way. We at Back Deck take allergies very seriously, and we are constantly reminding our staff to follow the procedures that will insure people with gluten sensitivity can dine with us without fear. We have a fryer for fries that never is used for anything with gluten. Several restaurant lists for people with Celiac Disease list us, and my sister-in-law, who is very sensitive to gluten, and the reason I am so conscious of the problem, has dined with us dozens of times without a problem. This restaurant is super cute! And very clean. The food was delicious. My boyfriend & I had our first experience here last weekend and I'm sure we will be back! Our server was very bubbly and our meals were absolutely delicious. I would love to see a veggie burger on the menu someday!

Went there two times. First time the waiter was emitting out a seriously heavy cigarette smell. Seemed like he just went out and took one before serving us. Also even though he smelled like a grilled cigar he behaves like he is stoned by some other substances. Food was so-so. Second time the waitress was very ignorant, and even picked up the signed check and double checked how much tip I gave in front of us. Dhe frowned and seemed dissatisfied about the final amount, which confused me because she didn't do anything special anyway and was even ignoring our table. This time we ordered grills and it was awfully awful. I had to rush to cvs to buy pills to sooth my stomach. Will never ever go again.

Okay. Here for lunch at 3:00pm on a Friday. Pros: Pulled pork wasn't awful. Food wasn't warm after a few bytes though. Decent beer. Cons: Service. Took like at least 7 minutes for water and longer for an actual order. Sitting in the back area almost no one checked up on us or the people around us except for the bare minimum. Didn't get ranch I ordered until we asked. Brought wrong beer size (can't complain) and I had to ask again for my coke I ordered with my beer. A few nats were flying around. One flew in my beer. With big windows open, even in the back it was a little hot. Worst part: fries are mis-labeled on menu and are actually fat home made wedges which weren't that great. Not really here at very off hours(but maybe) enough to have this mediocre experience.

This restaurant is Great. The atmosphere was very modern patio type. The staff was very attentive and polite. I had the Salmon Cobb Salad. LITERALLY the best salad I've ever had! I highly recommend.!!

I ordered a turkey burger my girls each ordered salmon salads. In our opinion the salads were overpriced and not memorable and my turkey burger never came to the table. After waiting thru my girls eating their food and watching the waiter continuously bringing food out to other customers i finally decided to leave hungry. He did keep apologizing...but never presented me with a meal or a single drink refill.
