Just curious, but who is surprised about this? I don't have much confidence in their focus on security even though it is their core business...

Also, which of you are LastPass customers hearing about this for the first time?

Never hurts to reshare this one again!

If you're not paying for the product, you are the product.

I have to admit, this is a catchy line.  It appeals to the inner cynic in us all and makes a certain amount of sense in a core, "what can you do for me," type of thinking.

But it's hog-wash.

I work for Google so I follow the news about the company and I'm really tired of seeing that first line, or some variation of it, spouted by people who really don't care enough to want to think it through.  It does not work that way!

Yes, Google is a company.  And yes, Google is a reasonably large company (though not that large compared to the likes of IBM, GE, etc.).  But though a company is a single entity in the eyes of the law, it is not run like that.  Google is full of many thousands of individuals, many of whom are more rabid about user privacy than the privacy watchdogs that complain.  I've watched them take Larry and Sergey to task on stage about the smallest things.  I've done it twice myself.  If the leaders of the company purposely violated our users' trust, there would be open revolt and the founders would be lucky to not find themselves strung up by their toes.

Everything Google does is done for our users.  Your happiness is always the first priority, even above Ads.  (I've seen this in both policy and various practical implementations.)  You are not product; you are our customers!  That's simply the way we view it and it permeates the company from bottom to top.  Everything is done to make a better service for you.

Even Ads is viewed as a service to our users.  Random ads are garbage.  Useful ads are a benefit.  Yes, it's also a benefit to our publishers and yes, it's also a benefit to our shareholders.  Since when did win-win-win arrangements become a bad thing?

I won't claim that Google always gets it exactly right or that we haven't made mistakes.  We don't and we have.  And we admit it.  And it will happen again.  Sorry.  But everything is done with the right intent even if it doesn't always work out as hoped.  Hindsight is perfect.

Google is the most moral company in which I have ever worked.  But guarding our users' privacy doesn't just make moral sense, it makes business sense.  If we purposefully violated our users' privacy, we wouldn't have a business at all before very long.

Hey +Pig City BBQ, what happened to your franchise license and half of the items on your menu? We dropped by tonight and missed the Sloppy City Sandwich and the old kid menu if nothing else.

What gives?

Yes it was Rib City. They changed their name about a week ago. Don't really know what happened. The ribs were still good, though.

The version of millennial social justice advocacy that I have spoken about — one that uses Identity Politics to balkanize groups of people, engenders hatred between groups, willingly lies to push agendas, manipulates language to provide immunity from criticism, and that publicly shames anyone who remotely speaks some sort of dissent from the overarching narrative of the orthodoxy — is not admirable. It is deplorable. It appeals to the basest of human instincts: fear and hatred. It is not an enlightened or educated position to take. History will not look kindly on this Orwellian, authoritarian pervision of social justice that has taken social media and millennials by storm over the past few years.

Ouch and so true.

Even leftist millennials are starting to recognize that the methods of millennial era "liberals" and "progressives" are not liberal. They are authoritarian.

The Authoritarianism of Millennial Social Justice

https://medium.com/@aristoNYC/social-justice-bullies-the-authoritarianism-of-millennial-social-justice-6bdb5ad3c9d3

"What I am talking about so far is not meant to discredit feminism or any social justice position that seeks to empower oppressed people or remedy social ills. As I made abundantly clear to begin with, these are fundamentally good and necessary goals. What is the issue here are the tactics used by some from a purported place of moral high ground to immunize themselves from criticism while promoting a close-minded authoritarian vice-grip on society through chillingly sinister tactics."

I'm so glad I don't live there anymore. Running across these types on the internet drives me insane. My favorite is being told that as a white male I should wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and be disgusted by what I see as we are all rapists even if we haven't raped anyone because we have the potential and made up statistics, etc. Sometimes I will play along, but then I mention I'm 1/8th Native American which I know they are thinking, "that's barely any at all" but it wouldn't be PC for them to say otherwise so they usually stop right there. :D

The lunch service here is pathetic at the very, very best. They have fallen so far since 1+ years ago. They recently changed their lunch menu and it is now unnecessarily confusing what you are buying, you can only get one sauce for the snack size wings which is just too little, the staff is not attentive and service is often VERY slow. Every time I have been here for lunch recently it has taken over an hour. I do not recommend it. If it wasn't for being able to order online I would not even eat here for dinner. Very disappointing drop in service quality. Nothing is worth that bad of service.

He was very fast, he let me ask question s up front and then he just got to work and got finished. Very to the point which is good. I went after having work done on the tooth at my regular dentist. Don't go to an endodontist if you haven't seen your regular dentist.

Barely gets two stars because the food is good. I would rather have a Red Robin at this location over Johnny Rockets. Every time we have come here the service has been slooooooow, drink refills are rare, and the food is just good.

Very disappointing for sushi. The sashimi is the size of a quarter and sliced VERY thin. The salmon roll has salmon about the size of a coffee stirrer in about a nickel size around roll. You can have a much better experience for the same price just about anywhere, including Happy Sumo.

By far one of the best Thai places I've had. Every single curry on the lunch menu is superb. The orange chicken is great. The satay and spring rolls are delicious. I eat there multiple times most weeks and I always come away very satisfied. The Tom Ka soup is incredible. You won't go wrong eating here if you love Thai, guaranteed.
