Something to consider regarding the election:

2008:
Obama - 69.3 million
McCain - 59.6 million
Third parties - 2.1 million

2012:
Obama - 65.5 million
Romney - 60.6 million
Third parties - 2.5 million

2016: (so far)
Clinton - 60.4 million
Trump - 60.1 million
Third parties - 6.2 million

If you think voting third party cannot send a message, just take a look at these numbers. Third party voters are the ones that made this election this tight. People voting third party essentially sent a message that they would not be ignored and they were not okay with these two candidates. Even a fraction of these people could have swayed the vote one way or the other.

Here's another set of numbers I will throw out to you (the last time this situation happened).

2000:
Gore - 50.9 million
Bush - 50.5 million
Third parties - 3.9 million

In both of these elections, third party voters outnumbered the difference between the two candidate by a massive margin. Third party votes matter and they can make a difference.

This sounds familiar...

The dietary-fat debate is a case study in scientific groupthink—and in the Left’s techniques for enforcing political orthodoxy. From the start, prominent nutrition researchers disputed fat’s link to heart disease and criticized Washington for running a dietary experiment on the entire population. But they were dismissed as outliers who’d been corrupted by corporate money. At one hearing, Senator McGovern rebutted the skeptics by citing a survey showing that low-fat diet recommendations were endorsed by 92 percent of “the world’s leading doctors.” Federal bureaucrats and activists smeared skeptics by leaking information to the press about their consulting work with the food industry. One skeptic, Robert Olson of Washington University, protested that during his career, he had received $250,000 from the food industry versus more than $10 million from federal agencies, including ones promoting low-fat diets. If he could be bought, he said, it would be more accurate to call him “a tool of government.” As usual, though, the liberal press focused only on corporate money.
The Left has done far more than the Right to set back progress.

The amount of anti-Trump news reporting following the nominating Conventions escalated by many times. Remember those Clinton endorsements, like the New York Times in late-September or the Washington Post in mid-October. By advocating for Clinton and against Trump, the Fourth Estate drove many citizens to seek information elsewhere, and they found it. To repeat: The success of so-called fake and partisan pro-Trump news directly derives from the mainstream media’s failure to be objective. To engage the majority of Americans.

Really well written, this is exactly right. The entire concept of "shutting down" so-called fake news sites is terrifying 1984 BS.

"You've Been Misled About #FakeNews". #Ethics #Journalism

I am ashamed and embarrassed to be a journalist. This past week’s coordinated attacks on so-called fake news sites—largely orchestrated by the mainstream media and supported by Internet gatekeepers like Google and social media consorts such as Facebook or…
Mainstream media's righteous indignation about fake news sites seeks to preserve the status quo, not protect the public trust, by censoring competitors.

Arrival Movie Review

I feel like if I say much more than what you see in the trailers I will ruin this movie for you.

Hard sci-fi? Check. An intense and awesome story? Check. Overall great acting? Check. Great soundtrack? Great cinematography? Check, check.

Basically, if you like thoughtful, hard sci-fi this is a must see movie. I highly recommend it.

Fact checkers aren't there to check facts. They've made that clear.

To be fair, it isn't all their fault, however any honest fact checker would have pointed out that the ACA was too damn complicated to predict. Even assuming everyone went into this honestly, the program zagged when they expected it to zig.

Exquisite and delicious sushi. I would say a bit higher end than Happy Sumo for roughly the same price.

Sodaliciois is my favorite soda bar. They have the best named sodas and yummy, yummy sweet heat. Seriously, try it in the Black Forest if you like things with a little kick. It's amazing.

This is one of the good Taco Time locations. They rarely get orders wrong and the food is always quite good.

R&R is essentially the most authentic and delicious barbecue place in the area. There are many good barbecue places around but R&R stands out among them all. My favorite things here are the brisket nachos and brisket tacos. Their brisket is cooked to perfection.
