Kenyan MPs are debating a proposal to make it a criminal offence to address an official incorrectly at a state function.

Those failing to use the correct honorific would face a $23,000 (£14,000) fine or a one-year jail term.

#Uganda coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic is "optimistic" his side will qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.

The Cranes narrowly missed out on reaching the 2013 tournament, losing on penalties to Zambia in the final qualifier and Sredojevic is eager to "make Ugandans happy by qualifying" this time around.

The government of #SouthSudan has withdrawn its case against four senior officials accused of plotting a coup last December, which sparked a rebellion in which thousands of people have been killed. The suspects -- who were accused of treason -- went on trial in March. Seven others, who were also arrested last year, were released in January. The release of the suspects has been one of the key demands of rebels loyal to former vice president Riek Machar.

Prosecutors in #Mali have charged the man who led a coup in 2012 with complicity to murder in connection with the discovery of a mass grave.

Captain Amadou Sanogo -- who is already in custody facing kidnapping allegations -- led the coup that precipitated the seizure of northern Mali by Islamist and separatist forces.

Shortly after his arrest last year, a grave was found containing more than twenty bodies, believed to be high-ranking soldiers loyal to the former president Amadou Toumani Toure.

The African Union has condemned the recent killings in Bentiu in South Sudan. The AU Commission Deputy Chairman Erastus Mwencha called on both parties to lay down arms and reach a political solution to the conflict that started last December. Mwencha also defended the AU against accusations of being too slow to react to conflicts in the continent.

#SouthSudan's President Salva Kiir has sacked the head of the army.

A decree read out on state television announced that Gen James Hoth Mai would be removed with immediate effect. No reason was given.

The country has been in turmoil since December. Last week rebels seized the oil hub of Bentiu.
