LEPAKSHI UTSAVAM 2018 Roadshow in Namma BENGALURU:

The Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority, present the highly anticipated, Lepakshi Utsavam 2018 from 31st March to 1st April 2018 at Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh. This annual art and cultural the festival will showcase mesmerizing performances and lakhs of attendees are expected to visit this event. The 2-day event promises an exciting lineup of performances, activities, and surprises. The event will be spread across 3 venues - MJPBCR School Grounds (Main Stage) and Nandi Temple.
A cycle rally will be held at 9 am on Sunday, 25th March 2018 and will be flagged by Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Hindupuramu. The rally will begin from the Kodikonda Checkpost to the Nandi Statue. At 12 pm, there will be balloon hoisting at the MJPBCR School Grounds. On 30th March, there will be a Heritage Walk in Lepakshi.
On 31st March, Gramotsavam will commence at 6.30am in Lepakshi followed by the inauguration of rural sports at 9 am. During the 2 day event, there will be activities and performances from 9 am to 4 pm each day. They will include; Cultural programs by local artists comprising of 300 participants and rural sports. Additionally, there will also be an exhibition cum sale arena including Handicrafts & Handlooms stalls, Food Court, a Flower Show, Fun Games, Folk Arts and much more.
Lepakshi Utsavam 2018 will be inaugurated in a spectacular fashion in the evening on 31st March and will be followed by impressive performances. Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna will play an active role in the proceedings of the inaugural ceremony. A sight to behold; 600 Kuchipudi Dancers will perform at the site of the Nandi statue. Esteemed Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandra Babu Naidu Garu, will grace the occasion with his presence and inaugurate the festival. Bhuma Akhila Priya Garu, Hon’ble Minister For Tourism, Telugu Language & Culture will also be gracing the festival with her presence. A colorful procession – the Shobha Krishna Yatra will proceed to the main venue from the Nandi Statue. The inaugural ceremony at the main stage will commence with a classical dance by acclaimed dancer, Achuta Manasa who will perform the traditional Kuchipudi dance. Veteran Telugu artistes will be felicitated, followed by a celebrity dance performance by the popular actress, Surabhi Puranik. Celebrated Indian percussionist, Sivamani will charm the audience with his rhythmic beats. There will also be a variety of local folk performances on the first day.
On the second day of the event, the festivities in the evening will commence with a dance performance by the fans of Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna. The Hon’ble M.L.A will also close the event with a skit that will enthrall the audience. Additionally, a film on Hindupuramu and Lepakshi will be screened, followed by local cultural performances and a special performance by Anup Rubens Band.
The event promises a unique festival experience for visitors of all ages.

Distribution

Air Coolers and Air Purifiers
Last year, Blue Star expanded its product line in the adjacent category of cooling with the launch of air coolers in limited quantities. The Nooran Sisters – Jyoti and Sultana individually of ‘Tung Tung’ fame come from a family of musicians. They have been trained in the field of traditional “SUFI MUSIC” for the past of 10 years by their father Ustad Gulshan Meer, son of famous Late Ustad Sohan Lal. Gulshan Meer is grandson of late Bibi Nooran a renowned Punjabi Sufi Singer of her time in the 70’s. He trained them in Sufi music and they decided to sing only Sufi songs. In the field of Indian traditional music mostly it is passed on from one generation to the next that is how they acquired the skills of present singing. That is why the girls are known as “NOORAN SISTERS”.
Over the years they have won many awards. Slowly but surely they are making a mark of their own over the very short span of time. In 2010 the girls were discovered by the famous international music promoter Iqbal Mahal from Canada at an early age and was amazed of hear them sing and ever since he has been trying to suitably promote them.
In 2012, The Nooran Sisters featured on the song 'Allah Hoo' on Coke Studio, which led to their first break in Bollywood with the movie Highway in 2014, with the music director A.R Rahman. After that they also sang in movies like Sultan, Mirzya Dangal and Jab Harry met Sejal. Based in Jalandhar, the Nooran Sisters continue to grow in popularity with their traditional Sufi songs that come straight from the soil.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI INTRODUCES NEW SYLLABUS in Namma BENGALURU:
Bangalore, 16th March, 2018: The Institute of company Secretaries of India introduces new syllabus for Executive and Professional Programmes. The revised syllabus of the Company Secretary course is effective from March 1, 2018. The first examination for CS Executive and CS Professional programme under new syllabus will be held in December 2018 and June 2019 respectively.
The ICSI has constantly strived towards attaining academic excellence and in order to cater to the academic needs of the students and create a legion of ‘Governance Professionals’ who can serve the corporate world optimally, the Institute undertook the process of revising its syllabus and brought out a unique syllabus which encompasses the innovative concepts of Core, Ancillary and Hybrid Subjects.
The Core Subjects aim to create expertise in the future Governance Professionals and in view of this the following have been given emphasis- Company Law, Securities Laws, Insolvency Law, FEMA and GST. The Ancillary Subjects focus upon creation of working knowledge in order to provide support to the Core areas. The following areas are covered under the Ancillary- Accounts, Finance, Taxation, Economic, Business and Commercial Laws and Business and Financial Management. Lastly, Hybrid Subjects ensure integration of Core and Ancillary areas. The Hybrid subjects will cover - Setting up of Business, Governance, Risk and Compliance Management, Drafting, Pleadings and Appearances, Secretarial Audit and Due Diligence, Restructuring and Insolvency Resolution, Corporate Funding, Corporate Disputes etc.
Talking about the new syllabus, CS Makarand Lele, President ICSI said, “The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) have always strived to impart optimum knowledge to its students by undertaking revision of syllabus intensively from time to time. Further, Government programmes such as Make in India, Start-up India, Skill India and focus on Ease of Doing Business have created mammoth opportunities for Company Secretaries, which in turn have necessitated bringing out a syllabus which can assist the future governance professionals to align with the Government policies”.
The New Syllabus comprises of Eight papers at Executive Programme and Nine papers at Professional Programme including one Paper to be opted by the students out of eight elective papers namely, (i) Banking- Law & Practice; (ii) Insurance- Law & Practice; (iii) Intellectual Property Rights- Laws and Practices; (iv) Forensic Audit; (v) Direct Tax Law & Practice; (vi) Labour Laws & Practice; (vii) Valuations & Business Modelling and (viii) Insolvency- Law and Practice. Inclusion of the subject titled, ‘Multidisciplinary Case Studies’ will definitely be of immense academic value as it will assist phenomenally in developing the comprehension and analytical skills of the students in solving various critical issues that they may face in their professional career.

· Metamorphosis from theoretical to practical approach
· Imbibing the innovative concept of Core Areas for Company Secretaries, Ancillary to Core - Areas allied to Core Areas and Hybrid - Combination of Core and Allied areas

The first examination for CS Executive and CS Professional programme under new syllabus will be held in December 2018 and June 2019 respectively. First copy of the syllabus brochure was presented to Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Human Resource and Development recently.The objective behind this New Syllabus is to provide a 360 degree rounded set of education and development to CS students.The Syllabus Review Board of the Institute came up with this new curriculum for Executive and Professional Program students to ensure the cutting-edge knowledge insights providing empowered Governance professionalswho would march ahead with renewed excellence towards New ICSI 2022.

ICSI MODEL CODES
Model Code for Meetings of Gram Panchayats
The Institute published Model Code for Meetings of Gram Panchayats to prescribe a set of principles for convening and conducting Meetings of Gram Panchayats and matters related thereto. The principles enunciated in this Code for Meetings of the Gram Panchayats are equally applicable to meetings of Standing Committees, unless otherwise stated herein or otherwise stipulated by any other applicable laws, Guidelines, Rules or Regulations.
International Corporate Governance Code
In pursuance to our professional excellence in governance, the institute initiated to conceptualize the International Corporate Governance Code for the first time in the world when no one has ever thought of having a universally accepted Corporate Governance norms. In order to set this code, a work of distinction and merit, the Institute invited the suggestions from its members and related stakeholders too.
Code for Charity Governance
ICSI formed a Core Group to look into the grey areas in functioning of charitable entities and propose a Code for Charity Governance. The Code envisages 9 Principles which touch upon different activities of these entities and aims to provide the governance mechanism. This Code will fill a long overdue gap in their governance to ensure that they remain true to their purpose and achieve the ultimate goal of empowering national governance.
Corporate Anti Bribery Code
Comprehending the significance transparency and accountability in suitably placing an inclusive culture of good government in New India, 2022, the government mandates the practices of curbing corruption and eliminating of black money at the utmost precedence. Accordingly, the Institute released a Corporate Anti Bribery Code with the chief objective to ensure that neither the company not any of its employees, directors or authorised representatives indulge in bribery in any of their actions taken for and on behalf of the company in the course of economic, financial or commercial activities of any kind.

CS: A GST PRACTITIONER
A Company Secretary can play an important role by being an advisor and facilitator for due compliance of laws to the general business community and corporate world as well. A Company Secretary is a Goods & Services Tax Practitioner and is eligible to undertake the following:
· Furnish details of outward and inward purposes
· Furnish monthly, quarterly, annual or final return
· Make deposit for credit into the electronic cash ledger
· File an application for amendment or cancellation of registration
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has organised a number of Webinars to educate its stakeholders and keep them updated. The Webinar series on GST has covered issues like Migration, Transition, Valuation, Refunds. As a major initiative ICSI initiated Memorandum of Understanding with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
FINANCIAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN
The Institute is actively engaged in activities relating to Financial Literacy and Investor Education since 2005. Accordingly, the Institute launched financial literacy campaign across India educating elected public representativesi.e Members of Rajya Sabha, Members of Lok Sabha, Members of Legislative Assembly in every state, Municipal Committee Councillors and Sarpanches at Rural Levels.
INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Since 2005, the Institute is registered under the Investor Education and Protection Fund (Awareness and Protection of Investors) Rules, 2001 and has organized more than 4100 Investor Awareness Programmes under IEPF. Further, with a view to create investor awareness in the entire country, Institute has identified Resource Persons for organization of Investor Awareness programmes. The Resource Persons are Professionals/Professors/Capital Market Experts/Retired Teachers of Universities/Schools / Masters in Commerce and are well versed in the fields namely Finance, Accountancy, Commerce, Law, and Management alike which are relevant for Investor Issues.
SECRETARIAL STANDARDS
REVISED SECRETARIAL STANDARDS ON MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS (SS-1) AND GENERAL MEETINGS (SS-2)
Revised Secretarial Standards on Meetings of the Board of Directors (SS-1) and General Meetings (SS-2) issued by ICSIwere released by Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon'ble Union Minister for Finance &Corporate Affairs, recently .
The revised SS-1 and SS-2 shall be applicable to all the companies (except the exempted class of companies) w.e.f. 1st October, 2017 and accordingly all Board Meetings (including meetings of committees of Board) and General Meetings in respect of which Notices are issued on or after 1st October, 2017 need to comply with the revised SS-1 and SS-2. The existing SS-1 and SS-2 are applicable to the Board Meetings and General Meetings held on or before 30th September, 2017
SECRETARIAL STANDARD ON DIVIDEND (SS-3)
ICSI released the Secretarial Standard on Dividend (SS-3) at its Golden Jubilee Year National Convention of Company Secretaries (45th National Convention). The SS-3 is effective from 1st January, 2018 for voluntary adoption by companies.
MACS adopts Secretarial Standards Issued by ICSI
The Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries (MACS) has adopted Secretarial Standards issued by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) as the benchmark in development of their Secretarial Standards. It is a matter of pride that Indian Standards are being adopted by a foreign professional body in the course of formulation of their own similar standards. The secretarial standards on meetings of Board of Directors and General Meetings were approved by the Ministry under provisions of the Companies Act, 2013. These standards came into effect on July 1, 2015.
NEW AUDITING STANDARDS BY ICSI
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is set to introduce four new auditing standards to harmonise the secretarial audit process and help maintain "quality and compliance" in the companies.These four auditing standards for the secretarial audit and other certifications will be required to be followed by Company Secretaries in practice. Once these auditing standards are followed by Corporates, the quality and the compliance would be maintained.
It is a mandate for all the listed companies in India to conduct secretarial audit through a practising company secretary since 2013. The New Auditing Standards cover issues of compliance, core governance, core reporting ,and core processes that a company is adopting. The new auditing standards are at their final stage and would be released within the next one or two months.
CAPACITY BUILDING
ICSI REGISTERED VALUERS ORGANIZATION
A CS is now recognised as a “registered valuer” under the new valuation rules issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The notification of these rules - Companies (Registered Valuers and Valuation) Rules 2017- is expected to bring clarity regarding various aspects of valuation and registered valuersand have major impact on industry, professionals, stakeholders and Government as well.
In order to enable the members of ICSI, other professionals and eligible persons to register as Registered Valuers, ICSI has incorporated a not-for-profit private limited company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, by the name ‘ICSI Registered Valuers Organization’. The entire shareholding of the said company is held by ICSI. This is a new area of opportunity as the said Rules recognize Company Secretaries to be registered valuers for the asset class viz. Securities and Financial Assets.
EASE OF DOING BUSINESS
The Instituteis persistently supporting the Government of Indiain establishing and promoting good corporate governance not only at national level but also globally.
The Institute has extended its support to persons/companies overseas to guide and facilitate setting up of business in India. The High Commission of India in Kenya and Malaysia have placed the link of ICSI website to apprise the populace in respective countries with the ease and information on setting up business in India.
PMQ COURSES AND OTHER MAJOR ACTIVITIES
The Institute has Launched PMQ Course in specialized subject, namely, Banking Law and Practice, Insurance Law and Practice, Capital, Commodity and Money Market; Intellectual Property Rights-Law and Practice; and International Business- Law and Practice, Launched PMQ Course in Competition Law and Restructured PMQ Course in Corporate Governance.The Institute has also launched a Course on Valuation.
LATEST INITIATIVES FOR THE STUDENTS
· 50% Concession in Registration and Examination Fee has been introduced for War Widows and Wards of Martyrs of military and para-military forces.
· Full Time Integrated Company Secretaryship Course has been introduced at CCGRT, Navi Mumbai. Full Time Courses are being planned at more locations in a phased manner.
· The Institute has created ‘ICSI Students Education Fund Trust’ which encourages and motivates both economically backward & academically bright students to pursue the Company Secretaryship Course. It has been one of important initiatives of the Institute to impart education to economically needy and academically bright students at zero cost thus contributing to the objectives under nation building and social responsibility.
· ICSI Signature Award Scheme has been introduced by the Institute in furtherance of its objectives to nurture best talent available and facilitate meaningful collaborations between the institutions in the higher education sector for the benefit of student community. Under this Scheme, Top Rank Holder in the B.Com. Examinations of respective Universities and topper of selected programmes/ papers of IIMs / IITs shall be awarded a Gold Medal and Merit Certificate. Top three rank holders in the aforesaid examinations shall also be eligible for waiver of Registration Fee while registering for the CS Course in Executive Programme.
· CS Olympiad has been conducted for students of Classes 11 and 12 during 2016-17 and 2017-18.
· In order to augment the reach and level of services being provided through its Regional Councils & Chapters, ‘ICSI Study Centre Scheme’ was launched on 2nd October, 2015. The objective of the Study Centre Scheme is to break the distance barrier between ICSI and its students.
· The Institute has launched a Fee Waiver Scheme for students of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern States of India in 2017 to provide an opportunity to the youth of these States to come to the mainstream. The initiative is expected to play a significant role in empowerment of the youth of such areas.
· The Institute has introduced a Coaching Fee Waiver Scheme for the benefit of students from Union Territories (except for Delhi and Chandigarh) under the scheme ,students from these regions may undergo coaching from the nearest Regional/ Chapter Offices without paying the requisite fee.

All India Mahila Empowerment party (MEP) announces 50% reservation for women candidates
Bengaluru, 11 March 2018: The newly launched Mahila Empowerment Party (MEP) has made all the right moves by announcing 50% reservations to women candidates in the upcoming elections across India.
The announcement was made Dr. Nowhera Shaik, founder and president of All India Mahila Empowerment Party, at a rally held at the Palace ground. The move has been welcomed and applauded by one and all.
MEP will be fielding its candidates on all 224 Lok Sabha seats, starting with Karantaka Legislative Assembly elections that will be held in April this year.

The chosen finalists from Karnataka displayed their skills and abilities as they wowed the audiences and judges, reaffirming the fact that age and marital status is no barrier for a woman to showcase her talent.
