Power Paws Assistance Dogs is participating in the 2013 Waste Management Phoenix Open. You can pledge as little as 1 cent for every birdie made in the Birdies for Charity event. Click the link to pledge, or I will be happy to enter your information for you. Simply send me an email (meg@azpowerpaws.org) with your pledge amount, along with the signature on your email (F Name, L Name, email, address, phone).  Power Paws’ BFC #246.

If 1500 birdies are made, your total pledge would be:

1¢ = $15
2¢ = $30
3¢ = $45
4¢ = $60
5¢ = $75
10¢ = $150

The total number of birdies varies. This is an average. It makes good cents!  Thank you for your support!

SCOTTSDALE RESORT AND CONFERENCE CENTER OFFERS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO POWER PAWS’ STUDENTS
July 30, 2012 – Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center is hosting a Day in the Kitchen to students enrolled in Power Paws Assistance Dogs summer program, Power Paws…Unleashed! on July 31st, 2012. Under the direction of Heinz Neuhauser, Food and Beverage Director, students learn the carbohydrate count of the lunch they are about to prepare. Mr. Neuhauser assigns each student a station in the kitchen where they will prepare salads, entrées, rolls and desserts. Then they are escorted to the dining room where the staff of the resort serves the meal in grand fashion.
What does this experience have to do with training assistance dogs? Power Paws trains dogs for children and adults with Type 1 Diabetes. “Learning how to count carbs and still make a delicious, nutritious meal teaches the students that carb-restricted diets don’t have to be boring. This opportunity also gives our students a once-in-a-lifetime look into the kitchens of a 4 Star resort,” says Power Paws’ Executive Director, Robyn Abels. “One of the students’ favorite parts is plating the food on a conveyor belt. Each student is responsible for placing one part of the meal on the plate as it moves by. This helps teach them that timing is everything!” she added.
Power Paws Assistance Dogs is one of the charities that the award winning Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center has supported for many years. The AAA four Diamond full service resort hosts Power Paws’ annual graduations and provides in-kind services throughout the year.
Power Paws Assistance Dogs is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization providing assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities, including dogs for mobility impairment, the deaf or hard of hearing and Type 1 diabetes.

If you would like more information or would like to schedule an interview or on-site visit please contact Robyn Abels at 480-945-0754 or email at abels@aol.com

Recent run-ins have a Valley service dog training agency pleading with pet owners to keep their animals away from working dogs.
