‘Colori Gelato’ was initially inspired by a 1998 summer holiday spent backpacking on Italy’s Amalfi coast. This exposure to timeless Italian style mixes with playful pastels to create a collection embodying seaside elegance and summer iconography. Soft gelato pastels fuse with bold graphic lines to give a modern, fresh take on feminine hats and headpieces. Standing out from the crowd has never been so fun or tasty!
Spring/Summer 2014 sees Awon Golding continue her fascination with melding traditional millinery techniques and eye-catching frivolity. Utilising materials such as pinokpok, sinamay, ostrich feathers, and silk flowers, Awon creates a collection that is simultaneously classic and modern, like the women she designs for.
Her SS14 collection will be available for purchase at London’s prestigious design emporium, Liberty, as of May 2014.

Awon Golding is a London-based milliner who has spent an eclectic youth in India, Hong Kong and England. She draws on her multicultural heritage to inspire dynamic headpieces. Working with bold shapes to create dramatic silhouettes, each piece is painstakingly handcrafted in her East London studio, incorporating traditional materials and a fresh, modern flair.
Working as a fashion writer and magazine editor in Hong Kong, she eventually decamped to London to pursue her dream of millinery. After an apprenticeship with renowned London milliner Edwina Ibbotson, she went on to receive a Distinction in Millinery from the Kensington and Chelsea College. A job designing hats and soft accessories for high street giants Topshop and River Island followed, after which Awon decided to set up her own label.
Her flair and creative talent were recognised by The Honourable Feltmaker’s Guild, who awarded her first prize at its annual millinery competition in 2010, and she recently won the Industry Prize at the Hat Designer of the Year competition 2013 for her collection inspired by the Queen of Bhutan.
She creates two seasonal collections a year – Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter - and private commissions for a wide range of customers. Her collections are available for purchase at London’s Liberty and Fortnum & Mason, Hong Kong's Hatwoman, and online from Lovehats.com and www.awongolding.com
