"Christianity taught generations and centuries and still does, that the world came from a “Father” who made us in “His” likeness. By doing so, it denied that the first man came out of a womb – be it an ape’s or a homo erectus’. It denied the womb of a woman, it denied the womb’s power to create. It denied that the womb played a crucial role in the beginning of life, in the beginning of humankind. It taught the world that woman was created as a “helper”. It taught us that Eve was made from a rib in Adam’s body, effectively toppling the female womb. Effectively teaching women all around the world, throughout history that they are to hold a place in the world only in relation to a man, only as a product of a man’s agency to life; a by-product subject to an inferior position to those who were not “cursed” by way of being descendants of the first woman, the mother not of humankind, but of sin. It gave us Eve, a woman other women are taught to be ashamed of, the very oldest instance of portraying women as ones who lead men into sin, into deception. It called childbearing a “curse”, menstruation an “unclean” thing that required numerous washings, depravations and isolations. It told us that by way of being born, out of a womb, we are consumed by sin. It portrayed Mary as a “vessel”, her womb as a mere vessel, which was affected by the “Spirit of God” to bring forth the “Son of Man”, once again underplaying the power of the womb. It gave us a Man whose blood redeemed us, a Son of “Man” and not of woman. Even though it gave us the paradox of one God vs. His Triune manifestation, there was no Mother in the Trinity."

"I’ve noted more than often that this monochrome suburb hesitates to be jubilant with me, explode now and then in firework rapture for all that we’ve been through. But no, Baggio couldn’t care less. Nothing moves here. Not the air, not the cars parked half on the road and half on the pavement, not even dogs. Everything’s nailed to tar roads, so much so, if you turned their worlds upside down, none of them would succumb to gravity. Even me. If you turned upside down the scene where I hang out of my bathroom – wanting to see me splattered down on the earth, six floors down – I wouldn’t fall. I’m nailed to this floor. My breasts are stuck to this railing, thighs pressed to the glass below it."

I sit in front of my hostel, at the Spree and smoke with the waking birds. “Berlin! Berlin! Du bist unglaublich. Du bist unendlich.”

"I think about us, heavy women. Women of voluptuous bodies, consuming more space and taking in more air with every breath. I think about us standing in public spaces and about how difficult it is for people’s eyes to consume us in one go. We don’t fit. Their eyes zig zag from curve to curve. But the heavy tread is the only thing that matches my body. It is the spit of my body. It is it’s way of guiding me through the darkness. It is a warning, that I, or she, heavy treaders, heavy women, are on our way. Not towards you, not against you, but just with ourselves, a little against ourselves but more against darkness."

Finally after 6 months, here are 2 poems on going to a new place. Alice wrote the poem on Japan, in between Kyoto and Tokyo and I wrote about a little island called Wangerooge in the North Sea.
