Meet our students: JACK
Home Turf: Maitland
Living arrangements: Mumma’s boy (living at home).
Favourite food: Fresh seafood/Nepali Momos
How do you spend your spare time?: Outdoor sports, fishing, water skiing, beaching etc.
Can you share a positive experience during your time at Avondale?: My time at Avondale has overall been a pretty positive experience. But my favourite would definitely have to be my IPDS work placement in Nepal. That was seriously the most incredible experience.
Dream job: I'd love to oversee/participate in the rescue of people trapped in people trafficking. Particularly women and children who are trapped in sexual slavery.
Best book you've read: Grant's guide to fishes (the fishermen's bible).
What has been the largest fish you have ever caught?: Black Jewfish around 20kg.
Advice to new students: Don't let study get in the way of a proper education. Make sure you get out and make the most of your spare time. (But make sure you are passing all your subjects, because failing isn't fun at all.)

Want to inspire action? An effective way to do that is to speak publicly. Because, when you present from a stage, you're the expert. And from that vantage point, you just might change the way people see the world. http://ow.ly/Udb7j

Meet our students: JERNY
Home Turf: I'm kind of a free spirit and have lived in many places. Currently I call Cooranbong my home.
Living arrangements: Watson Hall, the men's residence on campus.
Best thing about Watson Hall: The multiple opportunities to connect and establish relationships with the boys and the men of Watson. I love being part of the brotherhood.
Favourite Lecturer: Dr Sherry Hattingh.
Winter or summer: Summer.
Where in the world would you travel if you had the chance and why?: The Outback because I believe that is where God is calling me to minister.
Favourite Food: Vegetarian stir fry.
Any tips for students at Avondale?: Ask questions. Search the truth for yourself. Enjoy the hard times, for they are only temporary and they are there for a reason.

The conferral of one of Avondale's lecturers Wendy Jackson’s Doctor of Philosophy comes 25 years after her graduation as a medical doctor specialising in paediatric endocrinology. Her PHD reveals keys to church unity as not about uniformity but union with Christ. http://bit.ly/1iBvmda
