These people are crooks! Don't trust them. I left the hotel, and they charged my credit card for $600 for what they claimed to be a destroyed TV, rendered useless in what they originally called a bloody altercation (which they now stipulate was water-soluble face make-up from Halloween). Please take pictures before you leave this predatory, lying hotel. They now send me this ridiculous picture of a destroyed TV as their claim. I have tried the Better Business Bureau, a letter to the CEO, and a disputed charge on my Credit Card. I don't know how this will turn out, but I refuse to be taken advantage of by a lying staff of no good ruffians. My first trip to New Orleans was sullied by their lies. Please, please avoid this hotel. I stayed at the Mason Dupuy in the French Quarter the three days before I went here, and they were much more convenient, courteous, and above all HONEST!

I arrived in the evening on a Friday night to find I was not allowed to park my own car. Not only would I have to accept their valet parking service, I would not be allowed free access to my car. If I wanted to go to my car, I would have to ask permision and be escorted to and from my car by a security person. I would never have made my reservations here had I known I would be treated like some sort of criminal. I was told if I didn't like it I could park on the street somewhere. There are no parking garages in the Garden District, and at that time, there where protests of some sort in the streets. When I am on the road, my office is in my car. It is a major incovenience to not have free access. The hotel is clean and nice, but nothing special. There are many other places to stay in the area without these stupid rules. I have stayed many times in the area, and never incountered such treatment. The hotel website does not at this time mention mandetory valet parking, although I was told it does by the night manager. I wouldn't recomend staying here. There are plenty of nicer places in the New Orleans area.

Terrible customer service on multiple fronts. Started with water not working and not being notified by management. We woke up to a leaking ceiling in the bathroom as well. When I called the front desk about it, they responded that they would "have someone come fix it." This is ridiculous behavior from a hotel, having us wait for maintenance to fix it without giving us a new room. We then waited to hear back for another 30 minutes before calling again to request a room change. The supervisor said she would "get back to us," which she never did. We called back again in 30 minutes. Finally, the front desk told us to come down and get keycards to a new room. All in all, over an hour spent trying to get out of the hotel with absolutely no thanks to hotel management. It felt like they were not in the service business at all, and I had to fight them to address the issue.

I was booked to stay at this hotel for 12 nights. Do to family circumstances I was not able to make the trip. I followed there cancellation policies, and was told my credit card would be credited back in 3 to 5 business days. That did not happen, when I called back again I was told the reservation was over 6 months old so it would take 45 business days(that I found totally unacceptable). When that didn't happen I was told 90 days, it has now been 4 months and they still have my money. I have never been able to get a supervisor that can do anything for me. I have lost track of how many times that I have called to inquire. I am now feeling like this company has just stole my money. I would not recommend that anyone make bookings in advance to stay with this company.

Quirky small rooms in a great location in The Garden District. Loved the location which was walking distance or on the trolley line to great restaurants, spas, and boutiques or simply strolling and taking in the great homes and flowers of this area. Also quick and easy to get to the French Quarter. The rooms were a bit odd and small by Wyndham standards. It did have a small pool to cool off in and a hot tub. Recommend trying Coulis for breakfast which a long stroll or short bus ride away.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Avenue Plaza resort in the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans for Halloween from 10/28/2013 to 11/04/2013 in room 1018. While the grounds, resort, rooms, and bell staff were all lovely, well-kept and/or well mannered, the desk staff was somewhat standoffish and seemed to almost not be willing to be bothered. I thought that was fine, and enjoyed my stay; however, once I got home, I checked my credit card to find that I was charged $600. I couldn't imagine what that charge was for, so I called up the hotel. They told me that the $600 was to replace a damaged TV. I couldn't understand what that could have meant, because the TV was in perfect working order when my guest and I checked out. We even watched TV the morning of check-out, and the TV was in the same order that we had found it when we checked-in. When we checked-out, we had left a few bottles on the kitchen counter, and some professional, water-soluble Krylon face paint had gotten on the sheets from when we went to bed after Halloween; but otherwise, the room was left in good condition. Since the face make-up consistently came out of all my clothes (even white dress shirts) in a single wash, I did not think this would cause any issue. Once I found that the charge was for TV damage, I asked to talk to the manager, as we are certain we did not cause any damage. Then the manager told me something baffling. He said that the room appeared to have sustained damage in an apparent physical altercation that left blood stains on the sheets. As part of that supposed altercation, the TV was rendered unusable. He claimed that we had possibly taken a razor blade to the screen! I told him that there was no altercation. The red was water-soluble Halloween make-up that washes out; but, he maintained that they had to replace the TV. I can't help but think that he took an opportunity of what looked like an altercation to claim damages. But, my guest and I can attest that we had no altercation. I even have pictures of the professional water-based make-up that I had in the room. Unfortunately, I do not know what recourse I have since it is a case of the hotel manager's word against mine. At this point, I am making a claim to the Better Business Bureau, writing a review on Yelp and Google, and writing an email to the CEO, as I do not know the best way to address this. If you do stay at this hotel, take pictures of the room as you leave, because the hotel staff is certainly not honest enough to be trusted with your credit card number.

We used our bonus time last minute, we got there and everything was awsome, the rooms were very private we had a room on the sixth floor and we could see the super dome. The French quarter is very close. All in all awsome.
