Highly plausible Samsung would do this deal. Very good way to get back into good terms with Microsoft and stick it to Google at the same time.
That would mean YouTube Viewership is now well over 1.5 Billion viewers monthly. No wonder that it was in 2013 when it finally got to profitability. 2014 must have been a massive year for YouTube in terms of profitability. 2015 should also be so. Right now there is really only 1 YouTube-like big competitor and that is Youku. Nothing else really is even worthy of being talked about in the same breath as YouTube. That is of course a bad thing in the end. As I have argued the only way a YouTube competitor could arise would be by trying to do a repeat on the Hulu model. And that would require a cooperation of Microsoft-Yahoo-AOL to make it happen. Anything else will probably fail as the amount of content, reach and money you need to setup a YouTube competitor is just massive.
