Come along for a 4 hour kayaking adventure from The Grand Hotel in Labrador, across the calm Gold Coast Broadwater to Wavebreak Island. Run by Eco Tours this trip is for the novice to the experienced and leaves early (around 7.15 am) from Harley Pontoon, stopping for a cereal and fruit breakfast on the western side of the South Stradbroke Island where many keen surfers leave their boats before they take the short walk across the other side to one of the best surf spots on the east coast.

WHAT TO DO ON THE GOLD COAST ... I live on the Broadwater and most weekends are busy here with people fishing, sailing, jet skiing, yachting, going for a cruise or hiring a house boat.

Some families even take their dogs over to the sand bars and let them frolic freely for a while. I often see people hunting for sand crabs to use as bait too. On windy days, the kite surfers and wind surfers are out in force.

There are always those who walk or ride on the waters edge, stopping for an ice cream at Baskin and Robbins on Marine Parade or feeding the pelicans in front of Charis Seafood.

Always something interesting happening here. I love where I live. So happy xox ~ ER

GOING FOR A WALK ... I walk along the water almost every day and appreciate the peacefulness and the views here on the Gold Coast very much, but sometimes I get the urge to see something different just for a change.

I couldn't believe how lucky I was when I discovered these Lakeland only 10 minutes drive from home.

I can walk among the roadside, trek through the bush, stroll along the boardwalk to the water, park the car and watch hoards of kangaroos feeding in the paddock and even see the odd plane take off from the flying school.

I appreciate the efforts the council and community groups make to provide us with the beautiful parks right in the middle of our great city.
