This weekend from 12:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon, come out to O. Henry Middle School for this year's Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival), hosted by the Japan-America Society of Greater Austin

Taiko drums, traditional and festive Japanese dance and musical instruments, the beauty of the tea ceremony, Kendo swords, Okinawan traditional dance, and Eisa Taiko performace -- all this will bring the aesthetic gifts of Japanese culture to Austin and Central Texas during the 2012 Aki Matsuri - Japanese Fall Festival.

Visitors will enjoy a range of Japanese food, drink samples, art collections, Yukata photo booth, calligraphy, origami workshop, and Japanese games and entertainment. In addition, there will be a Silent Auction for items such as gift certificates for Japanese restaurants, massage and face spa visits, art collections, Anime goods, games, DVD. Kimono, airline tickets, door prize, and more!

Fun,cosplaying participants are always welcome! Or, wear your own yukata to the festivities.

Not my best photo set from the evening. I hadn't found a good spot to shoot from yet, so I had to use my flash, for which I still haven't learned all the settings. But THE RUBIES were a fun, energetic band and perfect for opening up a great evening.
