Love it! "What you’re seeing with Pi 2 and xenon flashes is the same effect, but in semiconductor material, not metal. Semiconductors, like metals, have free electrons which can be ‘knocked off’ by photons. Photodiodes, solar cells and phototransistors all use this effect to function."

If you own a Raspberry Pi 2, congratulations: you're also the proud owner of an elegant demonstration of the photoelectric effect! At the weekend, Peter Onion, a veteran of our forums and of Raspberry Jams in Cambridge, Bletchley and surrounding areas (visible, costumed, in the background of ...

Another point in Microsoft Research's favor.  I hate when Im forced to say anything good about Microsoft, but between this and their recent IR depth camera hack for regular cameras... well done, gents.

Most of us writing computer code only wish our workflows resembled these teasers! There's a powerful gap between playing with every aspect of a complicated system in an intuitive, realtime way - versus having to visualize the system abstractly in order to play with it.

What if Ingress really is a game?

Let's face it. Recruiting people by telling them it's a "GPS-capture-the-flag-kinda-game" doesn't quite cut it.

I think the messaging of the tag line at the bottom is a powerful invitation to game players.  After all, who wouldn't like to Decide the Future?

Introduction
I'm interested in technology as a catalyst for cultural advancement, inherently just structures for societal organization, sustainable ways to provide the world with food and energy, and worldviews which encourage independent thought and respect for others.

I play the mountain ocarina, fiddle with high tech gadgets, enjoy the great outdoors, and love nothing more than a good discussion/debate on just about any subject.

I believe in being honorable - not from fear of a supreme being in some future mode of existence, but because we can choose to create the kind of world we would like to exist in with each decision that we make.
