Meet our current and amazingly sweet neurology patient Lola.

Lola is a 7 year old Pitbull suffering from Acute Canine Idiopathic Polyradiculoneuritis (ACIP) more commonly referred to as Coonhound Paralysis. Coonhould Paralysis is a creeping paralysis due to acute inflammation of the nerves.

When Lola came to us she was completely paralyzed from the head down. She is making steady progress and is now able to lift up her head and slightly move her legs. This is due in part to her daily physical therapy and fun rides in her Radio Flyer wagon, provided by Lola's fantastic neurology team, Dr. Lopez and Ryan. Tomorrow Lola will be receiving a new quad wheelchair to assist in her recovery!

We'll be sure to post an update along with Lola in her new wheels tomorrow!

For more information on Coonhound paralysis you can read about it at: http://hubs.ly/H03YBmk0

A year ago 5 great young veterinarians came to us fresh from graduating. Over the last year we encouraged them, trained them, harassed them, praised them and now we thank them! They have finished a grueling year of rotating medicine and surgery internship with us. They learned a lot and performed very well. With a tear in our eyes we send them off on their careers knowing they will all make us all so proud!! Thank you class of 2016!!!

Best wishes for continued success,
Dr.'s George Kramer, Jason Berg and all of the staff at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists.
