It has been over a year since I've blogged about sound and music. Since my computer is currently doing a backup and I can't do much in the way of comics, I finally took a moment to write about sound visualization, and Daphne Oram.
I have an oddity of brain wiring which allows me to see sounds as colors and patterns. It's particularly strong when I close my eyes. This is a type of synesthesia called chromesthesia, where the brain mixes up the processing signals for sound and color. As brain oddities go, it's kind of a cool ...

Figuring out how to paint with a cohesive color palette. It's my witchsona. My witch persona. Inspired by such things as Martha Graham choreography costumes, belly dance costumes, my love of scarves, shiny body jewelry, face paint, and some ... thing in my left hand that I'm giving the stink-eye to.
Attempting to color. The B/W is there to check color values and make sure they read well. It’s kind of working, I think.

Not a pear. Just a tichel, exaggerated a bit.

Heh. I forgot all about that pear until you mentioned it.

If you enjoy urban fantasy, long form storytelling, slice of life, then you might enjoy reading my comic Threads from the Blue Rock Tapestry.

About. Threads from the Blue Rock Tapestry is a tale of four flatmates, Jo, Aziza, Gabor, and Madeline, who find themselves in a world much larger than they ever imagined. The setting is Isifni, a modest cosmopolis in the southern Zagros mountains of Persia, crossroads not only between East and ...

Why can't I get back into this like I used to way back in the day when I first signed on? I've quit G+ so many times, and now that I'm back on, I'm finding myself thinking about leaving again. I met some great folks through here, and this is their preferred network. So if I leave, I lose contact.

Thus the recent post paraphrasing Eugene Helpmann: Ploogle, what am I gonna do with you? I don't know.

+Juan Ochoa Naw, I'm not gonna leave leave, especially now that I have a fancy new custom URL. I don't know how often I'll be posting here, but it's not going to be as frequently as, say, my Tumblr or Twitter accounts.

I just don't know how best to use my G+ account for my art and comics. Reblogging stuff I post on other networks just seems kind of redundant. It's a useful tool, and certainly fun for the occasional hangout (which I haven't done in a while), and like I said in the post, I've met fantastic folks I want to stay in contact with. So leaving would be silly to do.

I guess what I'll be doing until I figure out what to do with this is lurking.

+Astrid Lydia Johannsen Artie is my first long hair. We needed to get him a buddy (he started licking hot spots out of boredom) and we almost got a Main Coon mix. We ended up rescuing an orange tabbie who is more dog than cat and we love to pieces, but I wish I could have seen all that fluff in one place!

I'm abandoning Patreon because of reasons, and offering a new subscription model via my Gumroad store. For $2 (or $5, $10, or $20) a month, you'll be able to download and read pages of my comic, Threads from the Blue Rock Tapestry', as I finish them rather than having to wait until they publish on my comic site. Currently my buffer is three weeks, so you'd get to read that far ahead of everyone else.

You can also sign up for my Gumroad newsletter, which I'll be sending out every now and again to keep you updated on various projects I'm working on.

https://gumroad.com/ellejohara/follow

I'll have more comics to purchase soon, including previous chapters of Threads with extra bonus material. Slowly but surely, I'm figuring out how to run a business making comics and art.

Want to see Threads comic pages as I finish them, rather than wait until they publish? Then this is the place to see them. For a mere five bucks a month, you'll have access to every page of Threads (starting with chapter three) as I complete them. Whee! When the chapter is complete, it will become available as a separate PDF download. (Subscribers will be able to download them for free.) The old chapter subscription files will clear out, and I'll ...

I guess I’ve finally settled on the visual representation of my online self. I shot that panorama photo of Crater Lake back in 2007. It was the second half of my sophomore year at the University of...

Nice! I like the new avatar also. I don't remember exactly what the old one looked like, or when you switched, but the new one seems more refined with finer, crisper linework.
