So, I told a falsehood last time I was writing here, I said I was going to do all the preparation. Well life has a way of getting in the way of the best laid plans. I’ve got plenty of research into the science of my novel, I’ve even drawn out designs for…

So a few weeks back I wrote a post about my changing ambitions in writing. Basically it boiled down to going from being an ‘aspiring writer’ to an ‘aspiring author’* Which is really thrilling. Not that I was bored just writing, just the opposite, I just…

One of the things I’ve been doing this summer is studying the art of story telling. I’m frequently loose in how I approach writing, not working to one style or method, (if I were being romantic about it, I’d describe myself as the Bruce Lee of writing,…

Took a Buzzfeed quiz earlier, apparently I scored as 34% American, which I thought was a little unfair, (not that there's anything wrong with being American, I'm just a proud Brit, and an even prouder Yorkshire man)... that is until I found myself writing gasoline. Yes, I wrote gasoline, don't know why it just came out. I can however counter this by pointing out I used the word aplomb.

So, does anyone ever find words from another language, not incorporated into their own or used purposefully, slipping into their writing?

For the past couple of years I’ve been writing about various things I do to prepare for NaNoWriMo, it’s the things stuff. The electronics and software, the pens and the paper, etc… I’ve already mentioned my spare room, so I’ve spent some time setting it…

“May you live in interesting times…” Purported to be a Chinese proverb to an enemy, source unknown My job has been keeping me busy lately, (which is both good and stressful at the same time), so I’ve not had as much time to write blog posts, or more…

I have a bit of a bad habit, where I could say something with one word, I often use twenty-five, (that’s probably my guilty little secret to success in NaNoWriMo), and sometimes when two or three simple words will do, I’ll use one antiquated or…

I'm redefining my own success, I've always been happy to just write - regardless whether I share it with the world, (or perhaps because I didn't share), however I do want more, and I think I can do more.

It's funny, sometimes writing can get a bit addictive. I'm dead tried, and I know should have that early night - but the TV's off, the musics on, and I just went for it.

If I didn't have work tomorrow, I think I'd fight the tiredness longer and go into the wee hours.

Introduction
This is the Google+ account for my blog aspiring.org, a blog about my efforts to become a writer. I write mostly for fun, and share stuff frequently. I take part in writing challenges, like NaNoWriMo (have been doing it year on year since 2008), and self set challenges. I'm learning myself as I go, but I'll share the lessons I've picked up.
