Quality, Governance and Data Officer - CMAL

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) provides vessels and harbour infrastructure for West of Scotland ferry services. This position offers an exciting opportunity for the post holder to ensure that all elements of statutory obligations are met whilst also ensuring that each business unit are adhering to the relevant requirements of ISO 9001 along with external and internal Policies and Procedures. The role will involve occasional travel across Scotland and the Western Isles.

With extensive knowledge in Quality, Governance and Data, the post holder will be part of the Corporate Services team, thus having an overall view of systems that are currently in place across the organisation. As this is a new post, a proven track record is essential to
develop, embed and ultimately guide the organisation in current and evolving legal requirements.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the organisations statutory obligations whilst also ensuring that all relevant requests are met in a timely manner. These include Freedom of Information requests, Record management / retention guidelines and that all matters regarding Project Governance are being adhered to.

The role may require attendance at off - site meetings, coupled with attending training, relevant seminars and workshops to help enhance the role.

A driving licence and a flexible approach to work are essential. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, with benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme, life assurance and healthcare.

Property Services Manager (Asset Management) - Thenue Housing Association.

Salary – Grade 9, £43,649 to £46,021 (from 1 April 2018)

Thenue is one of the larger developing associations in the Glasgow area. In 2017/18 their £18million development programme will deliver 116 units over 3 sites and their Business Plan identifies a future projects to deliver a further 430 units in the next 5-8 years.

Thenue Housing Association owns 2826 properties in our six main communities and has 18 supported accommodation projects mainly located in Glasgow. They provide a factoring service to a further 600 owners within their communities.

The Property Services Department is responsible for the Asset Management and Development functions of the association. The postholder will take responsibility for budgeting, planning, implementing and monitoring the Association’s major repairs and cyclical repairs programmes. He / she will also be responsible for the planning and implementation of programmes to ensure compliance with statutory/legal/health and safety requirements relative to planned and cyclical programmes and in conjunction with the Property Services Manager (Development) ensure that all programme targets are achieved and that programmes are in line with current strategies. As a member of the Operational Management Team you will also be required to contribute to the preparation of business plans, budgets and other strategic documents.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social housing property/building management environment and significant experience and working knowledge of managing and delivering Planned/Major Repair and Cyclical Maintenance programmes including meeting legal requirements for asset compliance e.g. gas, asbestos, legionella.

You will have a full valid driving licence. You should also be able to display excellent communication and customer service skills and be computer literate.

Key Experience – Technical & Personal

• Demonstrated success in managing an operations function through a transformation programme with continuous improvement implementation, preferably with multi-site exposure.
• Strong oral and written communications skills, adapting style easily from board room to factory.

Chief Executive - Ulster University Students Union.

Based at either Coleraine, Jordanstown or Magee campus, salary approx. £60,000.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be responsible for leading the Students’ Union through an exciting period of transition and change, you will be a proven leader and will bring the skills and experience to support the Board, Trustees, officers and staff.

The successful candidate will enhance the Ulster University student experience by providing direction and leadership of the Union’s strategy and annual goals. You will also manage the Union and its resources for and on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To lead the development and implementation of the Union’s long-term strategy. To ensure that departmental and individual staff plans align with the overall strategy and support the achievement of UUSU’s goals.
2. To lead and support the staff of the Union, through the Senior Management Team to ensure a motivated, well-managed organisation, able to respond to the changing needs of the student population.
3. To ensure that the Board of Trustees (Trustees) are provided with timely, high-quality reports and advice on activity of the Union, enabling the Board to make appropriate and well-informed decisions on matters affecting the Union. To support such sub-committees of the Trustees as may be established and as required.
4. To ensure, with the Finance & Resource Director that annual budgets are prepared in a timely manner each year and that effective monitoring of financial performance takes place including the production of monthly management accounts and out-turn forecasts. To be ultimately responsible to the Board for the financial performance and sustainability of the Union.
5. To ensure that the elected officers of the Union are properly inducted, trained and supported throughout their terms of office. To ensure that officers and staff work collaboratively and collectively to improve the overall student experience at Ulster University. To ensure that officers are supported in the achievement of their annual objectives.
6. To ensure effective communication between the Trustees, Executive and staff of the Union. To ensure induction, management and appraisal processes are in place for all staff.
7. To take overall responsibility for the physical resources of the Union, including preparing bids and project plans for capital projects as required.
8. To develop and maintain the relationship between the Union and the University through regular meetings with appropriate University senior managers and leaders. To build and maintain relationships with other external bodies and key partners as appropriate and/or required, including NUS-USI and statutory bodies.
9. To ensure that all statutory and regulatory responsibilities of the Students’ Union are met and reported on to the Trustees or its sub-committees. To ensure that the Union meets all its obligations under Charity and Company Law, University Ordinances, Health and safety legislation and other agreements.
10. To have overall responsibility for all Health and Safety for the Students’ Union.
