ASOR is currently accepting abstracts for its 2017 Annual Meeting to be held November 15–18 at The Westin Boston Waterfront, Boston, MA. The deadline to submit paper abstracts is February 15, 2017. The Call for Papers is posted on the Annual Meeting website with a complete list of 2017 sessions and workshops, participation guidelines, and instructions on how to submit an abstract.

UPDATE ON PALMYRA: ISIL executed prisoners around the archaeological site, destroyed the Tetrapylon and part of the Roman Theater.

ASOR CHI has obtained DigitalGlobe satellite imagery that reveals new damage to the ISIL-occupied UNESCO World Heritage site of Palmyra. The imagery shows significant damage to the Tetrapylon and the Roman Theater, likely the result of intentional destructions by ISIL, although we are currently unable to verify the exact cause.
