Why is it called Windows 10 and not Windows 9? | ExtremeTech - Getting this question a lot ...
When Microsoft announced its newest operating system, the surprise was not that it was coming, but that Windows would be skipping 9 and headed straight to 10. So why, exactly, is Windows 10 getting the nod instead of 9?

Interesting to note the reference to Apple's "OS/X", given SCO's (sorry, "Xinuos's") recent release of OpenServer X (aka "OSX", no slash, TYVM).

Sorry, I'm a geek.

"[Y]ou wouldn’t randomly go deleting things, for example".

I've heard several times from clients who have had an "expert" come to "clean" their system, only to find that our software was deleted, because the "expert" didn't know what it was.  (Reinstalling our software was easy.  If the "expert" deleted their data as well, that's a different story.)

Helping people with computers ... one answer at a time
Introduction

I believe that personally accessible technology is the foundation of humanity’s future. To that end I teach people to understand and safely use personal computers and related technology so that they can do more, be more, grow more and connect more than ever before, and be an active participant in that future. I do that by answering questions, educating on important topics and trends, and sharing my overall passion and excitement for the possibilities.

I’m Leo Notenboom and I have a deep desire to make computers and technology more accessible to the average person – a desire to replace the frustration that you probably feel too often with the sense of amazement andwonder I feel every day.

That’s why Ask Leo! exists.
