Corporate America socializes to think that multitasking is a good thing, but it's actually bad for productivity and performance. I think you have to be flexible and able to adapt to projects and deadlines, but it pays to focus on one project and knock it out of the park ... What do you think?

Introduction

I’ve always had a weakness for a good story — hearing them, reading them, writing them and telling them.

Communicating good stories and ideas is what I love to do most.

I began my career interviewing subjects and writing news stories as an award-winning newspaper reporter and magazine editor.

Later, I helped others tell their stories as a technical writer, marketing manager and public relations practitioner.

My work has appeared in New York Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, among others.

Today, as a news entrepreneur, I’m still writing stories as a freelance journalist, ghostwriter, resume and LinkedIn profile writer.

I’ve gained experience in directing promotional efforts, developing partnerships, writing training manuals, planning large-scale events including conventions and conferences, creating and maintaining budgets, writing and presenting speeches, and conducting focus groups.

As part of my volunteer work, I was given an opportunity to serve on the national board of directors of two national Hispanic groups, and was honored with a national organizational leadership award.

As a professional speaker, I’ve given keynotes and workshops for the University of Florida, Lewis Clark State College in Idaho, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and more.

I’m fascinated by entrepreneurship and recently won a national business competition and a $10,000 business grant from the non-profit, Unity Journalists.

Recently, I teamed up with a longtime colleague, Shalyn Dever, to launch Chatter Buzz Media, LLC, an inbound marketing firm specializing in website design, social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO) and content creation and marketing. We love helping companies nurture relationships with their target market rather than simply shouting at it.

I absolutely loved my experience at Moms -To-Be Ultrasound! I was shown to a comfortable exam room within 5 minutes of arriving and immediately felt welcome. Our technician was fabulous. Fully bilingual, he was able to conduct our session in English and Spanish with ease. We were all amazed at the technology and images of our baby -- especially my mother and mother-in-law who kept saying they wished they had this technology in the 1980s. It was a very special moment to see my baby girl in my womb. It made the pregnancy more 'real' somehow. The video and photos were excellent and I'm still smiling from my experience! Thank you!

Yesterday I began the work day trying to check email on my iPhone 5 like I always do. Much to my surprise, my home button was not working. I called uBreakiFix on Curry Ford and spoke with Jorge. He was absolutely fabulous and gave me a quote of the phone. As the day continued, I checked out some tutorials online to try to find a work-around. I enabled an accessibility button on the screen, but getting used to the button was cumbersome. By the end of the day, I was frustrated and decided that it was definitely worth it to go to uBreakiFix. When I walked into the store, Jorge made me feel right at home and even remembered speaking with me earlier in the day. He invited me to sit down and enjoy watching Netflix while he diagnosed the phone. I had barely turned on the TV, when Jorge was back. He fixed the button by just adjusting some sensors that became misaligned when I dropped my phone. It took 2 minutes and he had fixed my issue! I was so relieved! He was nice enough to not charge me, although I told him I didn't mind because he fixed my phone. He was wonderful. As I was leaving, I forgot my phone cover inside, and Jorge came running out in the rain to give it to me. I am a huge fan of uBreakiFix and recommend them to anyone!

Renee and her team are absolutely wonderful! Not only do they provide excellent printing and collateral products, but they are generous members of the community. FAST SIGNS helps our non-profit, Compassionate Hands and Hearts Breast Cancer Outreach, with flyers for a big fundraiser. We are big fans of Renee and everyone at FAST SIGNS!

When it comes to pediatric dentistry, Winter Garden Smiles is THE place to go. When my niece came to visit and had an accident, we needed a compassionate dentist FAST. We called Winter Garden Smiles, and spoke to Vanessa. She was so helpful and kind to us -- she told us we could walk right in that day to get emergency dental care. When we arrived, we didn't have to wait at all. Dr. Lissette was wonderful in every way. She calmed my niece down and explained everything in way that a child could understand. Dr. Lissette and Dr. Roberto are so professional and put us at ease! If you need emergency dental care, a friendly kid dentist, or dental care for adults, you should go to Winter Garden Smiles!

I heard about Inspirit Yoga from my mom who works near the studio. I've been really stressed out at work, so we decided to try yoga. As soon as we walked into the beautiful studio, we were so impressed with Inspirit Yoga and Fitness. It feels like a sanctuary -- a calming haven away from the stress of the deadline-driven world. Raven and her team of instructors are absolutely fabulous. I appreciated that they not only teach you yoga, but how to be healthy from the inside out. I'm learning about the benefits of meditation thanks to Inspirit. I must also add that the Zumba and Boot Camp classes are super fun and definitely relieve stress! I would recommend Inspirit Yoga and Fitness to anyone!
