Lunchtime! If you like to see the original android collection, find the orange backpack. They traveled safely all the way from Germany with me so people I will meet once a year at the #IO16 can see them.

Congrats +Taylor Ling! Your work goes a long way towards empowering Fabulous users to reach their goals. Be proud :)

Design is hard and many times overlooked. It's great to see people like Taylor and +Virginia Poltrack appreciated for their efforts.

Fabulous is nominated in Google Play Awards!

2 years ago, I was having a conversation with +Guenther Beyer when we were discussing about the entries for my (re)design challenge, and I always remember he said something like "Probably it's time to do all these in real product rather than just mockup or concept".

And I am very happy to say that Fabulous, an app that I have been quite involved with the design, has been nominated in Google Play Awards for 2 categories - Best Use of Material Design and Most Innovative. We are really happy with the nominations, and we hope we will be able to grab one (or two) of the awesome Google Play Award.

Thanks a lot to the Fabulous team, the Fabulous users and also the Android Design community (like +Juhani Lehtimäki, +Wiebe Elsinga, +Roman Nurik, +Nick Butcher, +Asher Simonds and many many more) for all the interactions and sharing over the years, and hopefully this inspires more great design in the future! Thank you!

I'll be sharing some protips on understanding & implementing the material design principles at #io16. I'll show concrete examples of how these principles made my app Plaid better and how you can use them in your Android apps.
A deep dive into the material design principles by looking at how they made my app Plaid better. In this session we will look at material’s fundamental principles of tangibility, bold graphic design and meaningful motion. We’ll examine how each improve the overall experience through concrete examples and show how to implement them.

With the HTC Vive and Tilt Brush all set up, I'm gonna start a small sculpture study of iconic furniture. Started with the Egg chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen and manufactured by Fritz Hansen.

Awesome spot Virginia!

Super excited I got to talk to +Florence Ion for this "Android Influencers" segment!
The other people she's interviewed are all personal heroes of mine, so it means a lot to be included and speak with her!

Poltrack is also an active member of Google's Women Techmakers, and sometimes she busts out Google Glass to help her design.

I'll will also be giving a deep dive on Android Transitions with +George Mount & +Ben Weiss. #io16
Motion helps guide your users through your app by providing hierarchy and spacial relationships. Transitions are the best way to implement this kind of scene change and to choreograph the journey through your app. This session provides a deep dive on Android’s transition APIs focussing on content and shared element transitions. Learn how to use the provided transitions and to write your own.

While I watch +Juhani Lehtimäki's game evolve, I figure I might as well buy into the work and lore that one of my favorite authors helped form. And you can play it without a board!

Do you like games? Do you like my books? Would you like a chance to play a beautiful game set in my books?

If so, today's blog is for you....
Pat Rothfuss and James Ernest have been working together in order to bring you Tak: A staggeringly beautiful game set in the Kingkiller world.

The +IDEAA folks took an educational lean to the DC Code Kitchen this year, and I loved it. Such a diverse, fun group of people at this event.
IDEAA's second DC Code Kitchen has come and gone, hopefully leaving in its wake a new generation of eager Android developers
