I admit that a lot of the art which is currently interesting is perhaps more sexual than what is optimal for population control. Art can perhaps be hypersexual, sex or non-sex isn't the criteria of what makes art. Art is fundamentally interesting to someone or a group of people. If sex is so interesting to so many people I would argue that it's because of basic human sexual instinct. Basic human sexual instinct is the reality of life beyond oxygen, water, food, and shelter from the elements. Sex is useful to relating to others and reproducing. Perhaps we don't need to reproduce so much, but the fact that sex is interesting in art shows that it is also interesting in society. If you want to contrive a society which is less interested in sex.. why is that? Not getting enough sex? Getting too many conquesters? Too many rugrats? Too many coercive commitments? Too many sexually transmitted diseases? I think sex is interesting and comes with many problems. If you think you can take sex out of art... you can. That's art. It's interesting to some.
