Some great photos of Ash with the Tibetan family and film crew, helping with herding and milking the yak, spreading dung, learning about edible foods he could gather from the wild along the Yangtze and generally gaining an understanding of their culture and way of life. Ash also got to ask a member of the green foundation who joined him, about protection of the environment, plastic pollution and education. More info on this coming soon. But he personally thanks the family for their incredible hospitality, what a difficult yet peaceful way of living ❤ #MissionYangtze #TeamAsh

More photos have just come through from Ash, showing the incredibly treacherous terrain he’s covered with his guides over the past couple of days, at high altitude and following a massive snowstorm in China.

His @mauijim sunglasses are protecting his eyes in the harsh mountain sunlight that has just reappeared after earlier snow storms.

Temperatures are still well below freezing, down to -20 degrees celsius, and his new -23 degree @Kailas sleeping bag is just about keeping him warm.

We are expecting Ash to arrive at the mountain village Qumarleb very soon, where he will say goodbye to his guides E Der and Bima. He will stop to rest and refuel for a few days, before continuing #MissionYangtze.

Once in Qumarleb we’ll get a big update on the full detail of what’s happened over the past few weeks since Ash set off, and will share all the news with you over the coming days!

Ash and his guides were been hit by a massive snowstorm, high in the mountain ranges in northern China, even though the day before was bright and sunny.

Thanks to the incredible satellite equipment Ash is using from Navarino, he’s been able to share this video with us as he walks 18+ miles in -20 degree temperatures.

Watch it now - and wait til the end to see what happened to Ash’s waterproof gloves!

The images Ash is sharing using his satellite equipment, kindly provided by Navarino, show how the landscapes in northern China are as stunning as they are varied.
Red, Mars-like sand followed by the Yangtze carving its way through a valley, slowly building in size and strength.

Beautiful photos of Ash and his guides’ campsite in the Qinghai wilderness, as they stop for the night after a long day of walking. Despite it being early autumn, the temperatures are very cold and you can see snow on the ground.

Ash managed to capture this incredible image of a rainbow as they stopped to eat, and took it as a blessing that he is on the right track on #MissionYangtze.

Ash has been reunited with his horse, Caster Troy, and is back underway on #MissionYangtze. Only three weeks in, and it’s already been quite an adventure!
Now with the support of all local authorities in the Qinghai region, Ash shouldn’t have any more midnight arrests and is making great progress towards the mountain village Qumarleb. More photos coming soon! #TeamAsh

Ash is safe and well and has been treated so kindly by the local Qinghai police. He was detained after being reported by locals who were worried for his safety, out in the wilderness, at altitude and in very cold temperatures.
He was given breakfast at the station before being dropped back to his campsite by the police. When he returned, he and his guides came across a small hut occupied by a sweet old couple who allowed them to wash their clothes and charge their electrics. They also took a dip in the nearby glacier water which Ash described as ‘freezing but refreshing!’
Ash is now on his way to find his horse, Caster Troy and #MissionYangtze continues! #TeamAsh
