Yesterday’s question on ASEAN quiz was "Which country in ASEAN has the most number of islands?" The correct answer is: a. Indonesia. According to a 2002 survey by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), the Indonesian archipelago has 18,307 islands, which makes it not only the largest archipelago in ASEAN, but also in the world. The second largest archipelago in the world is the Philippines with over 7,000 islands.

It’s #ASEANSpeak day! Today we will learn the Vietnamese language which is spoken by approximately 82 million people. It is originally written in a siniform script called Nôm. Let’s learn a few phrases!

Hello= Chào anh
How are you?= Chị khỏe không?
I’m fine, thank you= Tôi khỏe, cảm ơn
My name is …= Tôi tên..

Vietnamese has 3 main dialects- the Northern, Central and Southern. It is a highly tonal language- differences in pronunciation affect the meaning of a word.

Happy World Environment Day! Many of the Earth’s ecosystems are nearing critical points of depletion and going through irreversible change. If current consumption and production patterns remain the same, with a rising population expected to reach 9.6 billion in a few years, we will need three planets to sustain our way of life. Let’s together raise awareness about the environment and preserve it for future generations.
