The people behind the curtains forget that the global game is, in fact global! Reply on the original post.
An open letter to Niantic Labs:

I want to stress my extreme disappointment at the Miami #Recursion event this weekend. I believe that Niantic has made a poor decision, and I wish to address that decision and the problems it has caused us as players.

You elected to give us a special prize for attending the event, the Recursion Medal - which is a pretty cool thing. It's a great bonus for having attended an anomaly, but unfortunately it was very poorly executed. You have isolated a large part of the players involved, and it's been a slap in the face to them.

You see, some people chose or were asked not to attend so they could stay behind and run much-needed intel for the event. They gave days and hours of their time in the two weeks prior and on game day helping us plan for the anomaly event, scoured the map for traps and potential links, and directed us remotely from different states and countries halfway around the world.

Perhaps the biggest shame (and the cause of the biggest outrage) was the way our remote sites were treated, Louisville and Columbus. These players from both factions labored similarly to us in Miami with their planning and involvement, drove huge distances to attend and support +Ingress , and were given packets with reportedly fully redeemed item codes --- and no Recursion Medals. No hints or clues to the artifact game. No special codes. What they were given was ephemeral points on a scoreboard, which left a sour taste in a lot of mouths.

These anomalies are awesome. I believe Niantic doesn't quite understand the level of planning and depth of involvement from agents around the world, not just the locals attending. With this in mind, I ask that you make this right and provide Recursion Medal codes for our remote sites and a small amount of additional codes for our remote intel operators. Our concern has been brought to Niantic employees more than once this week resulting in unsatisfactory answers, answers that display distrust in the players to do the right thing and get the codes to the people that need them.

The real distrust here lies with the players in regards to Niantic. We the Resistance have set upon ourselves the responsibility to correct the wrong that Niantic has done to our remote players, and provide as many of our codes to them as we possibly can. Upon hearing that no codes were to be given, we used hotspots to mass-redeem our personal codes with the players still on site in order to give our codes to as many satellite sites and intel operators as we could cover. We have urged the other primary sites to do the same. While we don't like working around the system, we feel it is a necessity to keep our players engaged and rewarded for their hard work and dedication to make Anomaly events a real success.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Ruth
