Found this on the +OnePlus One when I got back from the gym. Something tells me the wife was serious about confiscating it for herself...

I think I've lost this war. An HTC One M8 is coming any day too, but she doesn't want to hear a word about it. It's OPO or GTFO, apparently. Never seen this woman so excited about a piece of tech.

In all seriousness though, my own first impressions are very positive so far. It's all I've ever wanted in my phone.

Now to find another invite...

And look, she made her own emoji for you! :-D
My wife stole my M8 lol. Hoping to get a OPO to replace it.
+David Gross That'd be the ideal resolution for me. Don't let her see the OPO when you get it if you don't want to lose it.
Lol, I wouldn't mind getting the m8 back XD
Wtf is going on with the date on the phone?
That's awesome. She definitely made a statement about the phone. Your wife has good tastes it seems.
+Robert W It's true. She said the Nexus 5 feels and looks like a cheap piece of crap when I got mine. I sort of agree.
The cyan part what makes this great? Or is the hardware just that good?
important question - +Artem Russakovskii does the "sandstone" coating keep it from sliding in and out of jean pockets comfortably? That could be a deal breaker.
I don't think it's strong enough to make any significant difference. More testing is needed but it's still pretty smooth and low friction. I think it'll be more slippery than the Note 3.
A lady that's into tech. Is your wife single?
What does she like about it? The solidity, the UI, the size, or something else?
+J Agnew yeah, she's pretty nice herself, but I have a feeling I'd wind up dead if mine found out :D
Does anyone else notice that whatever she's wearing in the picture is now in the picture of the phone? Do you have matching outfits +Artem Russakovskii?
Don't let her see the M8 cuz Im sure she is gonna want that next.
+Artem Russakovskii  when you get the M8 act like you love that phone sooo much and its the best she is gonna want that. just try if not u r out of luck ! lol
How's the camera? Early reviews were bad, and I need a fast, good camera
The camera UI is pretty much nothing like the pre-release software was, which is what our review was based on. It seems a lot closer to the Google camera but with its own twists added. I haven't had an opportunity to test it out much yet.
Lol OPO and OPPO. I know its probably a coincidence but I find it funny given the rumors of them being the same company
+Artem Russakovskii mostly concerned with speed... Every phone I have ever had running cm resulted in blurred kid shots
Check for yellow tinge when viewing light grey background
Could someone please explain to me why this phone is so "special" or better than any other phone on the market right now?
+Alfred Loo it's well known that you don't bother about yellow tinge for the first week. Glue needs to dry out.
+Artem Russakovskii Interesting.. Post Google I/O if nothing new pops out that demands to be bought, i'll have to look for an invite. From photos / comments it does look like a nice device

+Mark Fesenko Value. Specs/cost ratio is the biggest factor. It doesn't necessarily have better specs than other flagships but it should be able to hold it's own and cost "half" as much.
+Mark Fesenko it's not. All this really is is the first CM phone. All the CM fanboys are losing their minds over it. That is all.
+Mark Fesenko & +Robert Best Snapdragon 801, 3GB RAM, 5.5" QHD display, all day battery, 64GB internal storage, $350.

I don't care if it's running CM, PA, or AOSP. It's a beast and a bargain.
+Robert Best I wasn't trying to convince you to buy it. I was responding to your dismissive comment that there was nothing good about this phone and that the only people who want it are CM fanboys.

I'm sure your phone's specs meet your requirements. This phone's specs meet mine. It's that simple.

Should've rooted it and put ten layers of security on it… Or some crazy PIN.
It really isn't just for "CM fanboys". It's a great phone (if you can get it) with fantastic specs (especially for the price) and it's extremely smooth.
The speakers are loud. They have great quality and kick out high volume (I actually tested the speakers back in March, but I couldn't say anything about them then). They're no Boomsound, but they're still very good.

I'm honestly very happy with the phone. The only thing that I'm going to miss from the Oppo N1 (since I'm getting rid of it in favor of this), is that swivel camera. I use it for more than just pictures. If I need to look behind the stove or something I turn the flashlight on to "fill" and move the camera to wherever I need it. It's a handy little tool to have.

I still use my M8 as my primary, but that's mainly just because I'm on Sprint and have been for well over a decade now.

This post got really long, really quickly. Sorry about that.
I actually found the speaker puzzling. It's really loud when playing audio, like podcasts. But it seems very quiet for calls. I don't understand this discrepancy, but I haven't talked on the phone enough to be 100% sure.

It's a good phone from what I've heard. IMO CM isn't my favorite anymore, but they still contribute to the community a bit. Look what they've done with the AOSP browser when Google left it to rot. CM isn't everyone but they do exist and over time I've learned to hate them a lot less and eventually forgive a bit. So I wish them luck even if I disagree. And you can put different ROMs on that thing. You're not stuck with CM.
Are you going to root it? I've been searching online and can't find a definitive answer because I was wondering if you can just root the stock ROM or if you have to switch it over to regular CM.
You can root the stock ROM. Definitive answer.
