Today at +Sleuth Sayers, a visit from several of the contributors to the new Malice Domestic anthology MYSTERY MOST HISTORICAL. I was pleased to be part of the editorial selection committee for the book and so excited for all the contributors to this fine book!

So much appreciate +B.K. Stevens hosting me today at "The First Two Pages"—chatting about the opening to my story "Parallel Play." It's an eye-opener in many ways to take off the creative writer hat and put on some analytical lenses (mixed metaphor?) with your own work. I hope other folks might enjoy the essay here—offering thoughts not just on this specific story but on short stories and suspense fiction generally.
